Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Forklift Operator to efficiently manage shipping operations and ensure safe transportation of goods within our facility. The role involves pulling orders for shipment, managing direct ship ports, and ensuring the smooth flow of parts from market areas to assembly lines and finished goods.
Responsibilities
- Pull orders for efficient shipment to customers.
- Manage Direct Ship Ports, Truck Load Reports, and other shipping functions.
- Move parts from Market Area to Assembly Lines and from lines to Finished Goods.
- Supply Presses with containers and move stampings to Market Area.
- Move trailers with a switcher truck as needed.
- Observe and follow all company rules and regulations.
- Maintain a satisfactory work area through implementation of 5S.
- Follow all safety checks for towmotor start-up daily.
- Perform dock/platform inspections before use.
- Engage dock locks before entering trailers.
- Follow towmotor refueling procedures.
- Inspect racks for damage during unloading and cleaning.
- Inspect shipments for damaged or improperly adjusted racks.
- Ensure parts are not protruding above racks before moving.
- Inspect trailers for obstructions before loading.
- Pack service parts to prevent damage during transportation.
- Ensure barcode labels on racks match manufacturing labels.
- Maintain proper flow of press and small parts Kanban.
- Report production when picking up and setting down racks.
- Maintain towmotor equipment for stable productivity.
- Learn and practice proper material handling functions.
- Report any discrepancies or irregularities to management.
Essential Skills
- 3-4 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Forklift and tow motor experience.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs without mechanical assistance.
- Good basic math knowledge.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organization and coordination skills.
- Successful completion of tow motor training and certification.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Experience with RF scanners and order picking.
- Ability to work night shifts from 3:00 pm - 1:45 am or 5:00 pm - 4:30 am.

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Portland, TN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $17.50 - $17.85/hr.
