Job DescriptionAbout UsThis is a long-standing urology practice serving the Portland metro area and Southwest Washington. They provide comprehensive care for both adults and children, offering services such as treatment for kidney stones, prostate issues, sexual health, and urologic cancers. The team includes board-certified specialists who utilize advanced techniques like robotic and minimally invasive surgery, combining hospital-based procedures with convenient in-office care.
OverviewThe Surgery/Radiology Scheduler coordinates and schedules patient appointments for surgeries and radiology studies, obtains referrals and prior authorizations, and verifies insurance benefits. The Radiology-Surgery scheduler also advises patients of surgical/radiologic requirements, as well as insurance benefits.
Responsibilities
- Schedules surgeries and radiology studies as ordered by providers, according to established policies and procedures.
- Coordinates processes and timing as required by the physician and facility. Arranges for surgical assistants, special equipment, and surgical materials
- Obtains referral and prior authorization for surgeries and radiology studies from patient’s insurance company
- Verifies and communicates to patients their insurance benefits for surgeries
- Provides patients with preoperative surgical or radiology requirements
- Obtains accurate information from patients, ensures all registration forms are complete, and demographic/insurance information is updated as appropriate
- Submits required patient clinical and demographic information to ancillary imaging or surgical facility
- Reviews clinical paperwork to assure completion before the scheduled surgery or radiology study date
- Tracks patients through the process to ensure surgeries/radiology studies are completed, and/or cancellations are properly documented
- Interacts with patients, providers, and other staff in the clinic and outside the clinic to provide accurate, timely, and responsive information
- Answers telephone using proper telephone etiquette, taking and delivering messages in an accurate and timely manner
- Maintains files and patient records in a confidential manner. Demonstrates an understanding of patient confidentiality to protect the patient and clinic/corporation.
- Follows policies and procedures to contribute to the efficiency of the clinic.
- Travel to other clinics may be required
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualifications and Skills
- Surgery and Radiology scheduling experience
Schedule: Monday - Friday (8:00AM - 5:00PM)
Compensation: $22.00 - $23.00 Hourly
