CNC Lathe Programmer | East Lansing, MI

Salary Range: $54,000 - $88,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We partner with manufacturers across East Lansing seeking CNC Lathe Programmers who want more than a lateral move. These companies hire intentionally, and we connect them with professionals ready for roles that fit.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize CNC programs for Lathe machines using CAD/CAM software.
• Analyze engineering drawings and specifications to determine machining processes and tooling requirements.
• Perform tool selection, cutting parameter calculations, and create setup sheets for operators.
• Simulate and verify CNC programs to ensure collision avoidance and efficient material removal.
• Troubleshoot and modify existing programs to improve part quality, reduce cycle times, and resolve production issues.
• Collaborate with design engineers, manufacturing engineers, and machine operators to implement best practices.
• Document all programming changes, tooling specifications, and operational procedures.

Recommended Qualifications

• Proficiency in G-code and M-code programming for CNC lathes.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T specifications.
• Experience with CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360, SolidCAM) for generating toolpaths.
• Strong understanding of tooling, workholding, and fixture design for lathe operations.
• Knowledge of various metal alloys and their machinability characteristics.
