Dose Steelworks, a family-owned company, is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Designer. This position will work with internal cross-functional teams and outside customers to create new and enhance existing products. This role will entail creating complete designs to meet design requirements, generate bills of materials, and product costing.
Essential Functions/Key Responsibilities
- Design and manage the development and implementation of manufacturing fixtures for new and existing products from start to finish.
- Create and maintain accurate 2D drawings and 3D models of trailers designs through the utilization of CAD Software.
- Participate in cross-functional team design reviews to evaluate product designs for function, manufacturability, and aesthetics.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate product costs, analyze cost drivers, and support cost-reduction initiatives.
- Engage in prototyping new products.
- Support and generate comprehensive documentation that encompasses design specifications, work/assembly instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and process flows.
- Provide proficient technical support to manufacturing teams through the initial build process and address any design-related hurdles during manufacturing.
- Reverse engineer components for design adaptations and provide creative solutions.
- Create, maintain, and audit accurate Bill of Material (BOM) data within the ERP system.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in mechanical, agriculture, industrial, or manufacturing engineering (or related field) with at least 2-5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering or an equivalent combination of related education and experience.
- Experience in a new product design environment, preferred.
- Experience with sheet metal and hydraulics a plus.
- Strong understanding of mechanical system design, dimensions, tolerances, tool design, fabrication methods, BOM creation, and cost analysis.
- Experience with CAD software and ERP systems (SolidWorks preferred, QuickBooks, etc.)
- Analytical mindset with excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects at one time with close attention to detail.
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
Work Conditions
Base schedule is Monday-Friday 7am 4:30pm. Time will be spent about 50/50 between a typical office setting and R&D/manufacturing floor.
