ABOUT THE ROLE
A premier national senior living organization is seeking an experienced Culinary Director to lead a high-quality dining program within a vibrant Los Angeles area senior living community.
As the Culinary Director, you will be responsible for overseeing kitchen operations, food quality, menu execution, team development, food safety, purchasing, inventory management, and resident dining satisfaction. Ideal candidates will enjoy training less experienced entry-level talent and will have experience leading culinary teams in high volume kitchens such as restaurants, hotels, country clubs, or assisted living communities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES SNAPSHOT

Oversee all aspects of kitchen and dining operations to ensure the highest food safety standards and company policy compliance

Schedule, lead, and coordinate kitchen staff to maintain productivity and service excellence

Ensure recipe consistency and adherence to established standards while introducing creative menu options for special events as needed

Manage food orders, inventory and equipment to reduce waste, control costs and support budget goals

Deliver expert meal preparation and service through clear communication and high culinary standards

Provide ongoing staff training in kitchen safety, food handling, and kitchen cleanliness fostering a positive and respectful work culture

Partner with community, regional, and corporate leadership teams

Conduct interviewing and hiring, evaluate performance, provide coaching, and assign responsibilities for direct reports
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma
-
Culinary degree or Certificate program strongly preferred

ServSafe certification required

Minimum 5 years of volume cooking experience including at least 2 years in a culinary management role

Proficiency with technology including MS Office and POS systems

Ability to adapt to work flexible schedules in a 24 hour operation including weekends

Reliable attendance and commitment to high standards of service
