We are seeking a Controller (REMOTE) for a full time and direct hire role for one of our amazing partners in Redondo Beach, CA. This is a remote role, but you must be able to work west coast hours.


Overview:

We are looking for a Controller who can grow with this rapidly expanding company. You will focus heavily on managing day-to-day financial operations. You will take ownership responsibilities such as completing journal entries, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring the smooth functioning of all financial processes. You will also help to refine and implement systems to support the company's growth. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in shaping the financial foundation of a fast-growing organization in the travel sector.


Responsibilities:

  • Lead the day-to day accounting operations like accounts payable, payroll, and general ledger management.
  • Analyze business transactions and record appropriate journal entries in QuickBooks.
  • Perform detailed account reconciliations to identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Lead the month-end closing process, including preparing adjusting entries and ensuring timely completion of financial reporting.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. Highlight key trends and variances.
  • Collaborate with external auditors to facilitate smooth audit processes.
  • Maintain and improve internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accuracy of financial data.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards (GAAP) and regulations.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, assess financial health, and provide insights to inform business decisions.
  • Develop and monitor budgets, forecast future financial performance, and identify areas for cost control.


Requirements:

  • 5+ years of relevant accounting experience as a Controller/
  • At least 5+ years of expert experience in both QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and accounting standards.
  • Strong financial analysis skills with the ability to interpret financial data, identify trends, and draw meaningful conclusions.
  • Effective communication skills to clearly present financial information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to lead and motivate a team.
  • Ability to analyze complex financial issues and develop solutions with problem-solving skills.
  • CPA certification required and Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
