Highlight Health is a mission-driven company that protects consumer rights and controls healthcare costs for self-funded employers. We are a profitable, fast-growing company without private equity investors.
Highlight Health seeks to hire a highly motivated, hard-working, and entrepreneurial individual to serve as a Technical Writer supporting the executive team, the claims team, and the legal department. The successful candidate will either have knowledge of or be prepared to learn a vast amount of information regarding ERISA, health plan documents, healthcare billing and payments, healthcare cost containment, and HIPAA, and be able to synthesize this information into written work products for both internal and external audiences.
Both research and writing capabilities are critical to this position. The candidate will report directly to our executive team and in-house legal counsel. The candidate must work in our Old City Philadelphia office at least 4 days a week.
As part of the interview process, you will be expected to provide a writing sample and to demonstrate your writing skills through a technical writing assessment.

Requirements
Qualifications for HLH Technical Writer:
Required:
- 3-5 years of experience in an occupation that requires high quality business or technical writing skills and the development of documents from independent research, interviews, and/or incomplete drafts or outlines.
- Experience navigating legal and academic databases.
- Basic understanding of the US healthcare system.
- Engagement in continued learning. Part-time students are welcome to apply.
Bonus/Preferred:
- Editing experience. Note: while editing experience is appreciated, it is not a substitute for the required document drafting and development experience.
- Knowledge of/experience with healthcare claims payment processes.
- Knowledge of/experience with ERISA law.
Benefits
Compensation and Benefits:
- $75,000+ annual base salary, commensurate with candidate’s experience.
