Job Description

Description:

We are seeking an ISO 18436‐1 certified Vibration Analyst (Level II or higher) to perform vibration analysis on shipboard rotating machinery. This role supports reliability and condition monitoring for marine equipment and offers hands-on experience with ship systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct vibration analysis and diagnostics on ship rotating machinery
  • Identify and interpret developing mechanical problems; generate clear, actionable recommendations for repair or redesign. Support reliability‐centered maintenance programs, creating trend reports, and helping define inspection intervals. Collaborate with internal teams and work directly with customers to implement corrective actions and improve system health.
  • Produce technical documentation including vibration analysis reports and trend charts that are understandable to both technical and non‐technical stakeholders.
  • Assist in training and knowledge transfer to ship crew and maintenance personnel on best‐practice vibration monitoring procedures.

Qualifications

  • Vibration Analyst Certification – Level II or higher (ISO 18436‐1)
  • Proven experience analyzing vibration data from rotating machinery in an industrial or offshore environment
  • Proficiency with at least one major vibration analysis tool (VA3 preferred). Experience with FFT, order‐tracking, envelope analysis, and spectral interpretation is essential.
  • Prior work on ships, offshore platforms, or other marine environments is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to translate technical findings into clear recommendations for non‐technical audiences.
  • Team-oriented with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with engineers, crew, and customers.
  • Customer-focused mindset
  • Experience with predictive thermography is a plus
  • Computer skills to include Microsoft Office preferred

Preferred (but not required) Attributes

  • Direct experience with shipboard systems (e.g., main propulsion, auxiliary boilers, pumps, HVAC).
  • Familiarity with ISO 55000 reliability management or CMMS platforms.
  • Knowledge of corrosion, motion‐induced loads, and marine‐specific vibration hazards (e.g., cavitation, hydrodynamic forces).
  • Proven track record of reducing unplanned downtime through early fault detection.

Location

  • Primary location: Jacksonville, FL (on‐site). Remote / work‐from‐home arrangements are negotiable.

Training

  • Includes approximately 90 days of shipboard training to familiarize you with ship systems, operational procedures, and safety protocols

Compensation

  • Competitive compensation based on certification level, experience, and skill set. Comprehensive benefits package (medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with match, paid time off, and professional development support).
