Human Resources Manager




Location: Elk Grove, Illinois with monthly visits to East Chicago, Indiana.

Schedule: 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM

Pay rate: The salary range is $85,000 year to $90,000 year + bonus + profit sharing


Manage the HR operations, including recruitment, employee relations, performance
management, policy development, compliance with labor laws, and ensuring a positive
workplace culture. This role requires a strategic thinker who can align HR policies with
business goals, handle employee concerns, and drive organizational success through
effective HR practices:
Primary Responsibilities:
Recruitment and Staffing:
o Oversee and manage the recruitment process to ensure the organization
attracts and hires top talent
o Develop job descriptions, conduct interviews, and coordinate the hiring
process
o Build a network of qualified candidates for future job openings
Employee Relations:
o Act as a point of contact for employees regarding HR-related inquiries
and concerns
o Address employee complaints and conflicts and mediate resolutions
o Foster a positive work environment and promote employee engagement
o Ensure compliance with the collective bargaining agreement.
o Work proactively on relationship building with the union.
o Facilitate monthly labor management meetings and resolve grievances
and work issues.
Performance Management:
o Oversee the performance management system, including setting goals,
conducting performance reviews, and providing feedback
o Develop and implement strategies for employee development, training,
and career progression
o Implement performance improvement plans when necessary
Compliance and Policy Management:
o Ensure the organization complies with labor laws, health and safety
regulations, and equal employment opportunity standards
o Develop, implement, and update company policies and procedures
o Maintain accurate HR records and documentation
Compensation and Benefits:
o Administer compensation and benefits programs, including salary
reviews, health insurance, retirement plans, and other employee benefits
o Conduct market research to ensure competitive compensation packages

o Manage payroll processes and resolve any discrepancies

Training and Development:
o Identify training needs and organize internal or external learning and
development programs
o Support leadership development initiatives and succession planning
o Encourage continuous professional development for employees
Health Safety and Wellness:
o Promote and enforce workplace safety protocols and health-related
initiatives.
o Manage employee wellness programs to foster a healthy and productive
work environment.
HR Strategy and Planning:
o Collaborate with senior management to develop HR strategies that align
with business goals
o Analyze HR metrics and prepare reports on trends, issues, and
successes
o Contribute to organizational change management efforts and employee
communication strategies

Special Projects
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
Proven experience as an HR Manager or in a similar HR role, preferably in a
union manufacturing environment.
Strong understanding of labor laws and HR best practices
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities
Proficiency in HR software and Microsoft Office Suite
Skills:
Leadership and people management skills.
Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
Strategic thinking and planning.
Working Conditions:
Full-time position.
Office-based.
Travel to East Chicago location ( Monthly reimbursement)
