Your Role
The Business Development Manager’s role will be to drive company growth by identifying, developing, and launching new products and establishing strategic partnerships with new suppliers. This role will be crucial in expanding our product portfolio, enhancing our supply chain, and increasing our market share. The responsibilities include managing all aspects of the new supplier programs, communicating, and educating all people at the supplier about all aspects of Grabber, and ultimately influencing the behavior of the supplier positively towards Grabber. Reports to the VP Product Category Management.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough market research to identify emerging trends, customer needs, and potential product opportunities.
- Identify and evaluate potential new suppliers based on quality, reliability, pricing, and channel strategy
- Collaborate with internal teams (e.g. Product Management, Purchasing, Sales, Operations, and Marketing) to define product specifications, features, inventory planning, sales strategy and target markets.
- Leverage Grabbers Value Story and Cost to Serve model in order to negotiate contracts and establish favorable terms with new suppliers
- Understand each potential new supplier’s business and influence suppliers to maximize volume, net margin, and quality.
- Budgets volume, growth, margin, and operational expenses for each potential new supplier.
- Responsible for achieving yearly sales targets of new supplier programs.
- Assist research & development of new products and assist with market related research, pilots, and projects.
- Performs similar work-related duties as assigned.
Occasional Work Performed
- Industry and Trade Show participation.
- Build the profitability business case through data analysis
- Develop and lead training courses
- 5-10 nights per month travel for off-site meetings and industry events.
Minimum Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; business, finance, supply chain or marketing emphasis preferred.
- 2+ years in business Development, sales, supply chain or marketing position(s)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Excel, Word, PowerPoint, OneNote, Teams, and Outlook
- Project management, negotiating, financial and analytical skills
- Knowledge of related industry
- Creating business presentations.
- Facilitation skills for training and meetings
Work Conditions
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Lifting capabilities 25lbs
- Overnight travel required (estimated 5-10 nights per month); ability to travel without restriction by all modes of transportation, including car, plane, or train to attend meetings and training as needed.
