A highly respected engineering and construction consulting firm is seeking a Construction Inspector to support the successful delivery of transportation, municipal, utility, roadway, water/wastewater, and public infrastructure projects throughout New Jersey.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily construction inspections on roadway, utility, drainage, water, wastewater, and infrastructure projects.
  • Monitor contractor activities to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, permits, and contract requirements.
  • Document project progress through daily reports, photographs, and field notes.
  • Verify quantities for contractor payment applications.
  • Observe construction methods, materials, and workmanship for compliance with project standards.
  • Coordinate with contractors, engineers, project managers, and agency representatives.
  • Review traffic control measures and job site safety practices.
  • Identify potential issues and communicate findings to project leadership.
  • Assist with project closeout documentation and final inspections.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of construction inspection experience preferred.
  • Experience with transportation, municipal, utility, roadway, or public infrastructure projects.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to travel to project sites throughout New Jersey.

Preferred Certifications

  • NICET Certification
  • ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician
  • Rutgers TCC, CCTC, or related construction inspection certifications
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30
  • Asphalt, concrete, or utility inspection certifications
