DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Takes and/or reviews and interprets a complete health history, including obstetric, gynecological, sexual, contraceptive, medical, surgical, family health and psychosocial; and records findings accurately via Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Performs physical examinations with special emphasis on the reproductive system including heart and lung assessment, thyroid, abdominal, breast and pelvic examination for women and/or genital exam for men, appropriate screening procedures. Interprets finding of examination and records same.
  • Prescribes and provides appropriate contraceptive methods and/or treatments for specified medical conditions in accordance with PPSP MS&G and PPM and tailored to clients' health maintenance.
  • Provides relevant health instruction to include family planning, STI prevention, genetics, nutrition, sexual counseling, intimate partner violence, sexual coercion and principles of health promotion maintenance.
  • Adheres to state law regarding mandatory reporting of suspected minor abuse.
  • Consults with Medical Director or designated community gynecologist or refers clients with abnormal findings or in need of further care according to clinical judgment and PPSP MS&G and PPM.
  • Responsible for reviewing lab reports via EHR and reporting positive STIs and abnormal Pap results to appropriate agencies.
  • Responsible for follow-up of referrals (initiation and tracking), medical problems, lab tests, etc. via EHR with staff assistance as needed.
  • Assists Center Managers and Center Assistants to ensure smooth operation and quality of the service (e.g. record keeping, laboratory testing and reconciliation, clerical functions, emergency equipment inventory, maintenance of facilities, excellent customer service). Performs additional RQM tasks as may be assigned by the Center Manager.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND CERTIFICATION:

Licensed or certified as a Nurse Practitioner, Nurse Midwife, Physician Assistant or Physician in the state of Pennsylvania. Training in a recognized program or its equivalent. Experience required in reproductive health care including STIs, contraceptive, pregnancy sizing and options counseling; experience desired in male examination. For Colposcopists/Cryotherapy – must have state valid certification. For LEEP – must be physician with appropriate training.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Malpractice coverage assumed by clinician if individual coverage required by the State (i.e., CNMs). Must be willing to work evenings and/or Saturdays. Must understand OSHA regulations. Must be able to travel to other sites within the PPSP service area as needed.


You must be licensed as a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner in the State of Pennsylvania with training in a recognized program or its equivalent. You must have a minimum of 2 years’ experience working as an NP in Women’s Health. You must possess strong clinical skills and experience and/or interest in reproductive healthcare, women’s healthcare, gender affirming healthcare, and family planning, to include STI’s, contraceptive, pregnancy sizing, and options counseling. Experience in male examination is desirable.
