Registered Veterinary Technician – Ophthalmology (Lowry)
Denver Veterinary Specialists (DVS) is seeking a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) to join our Ophthalmology specialty team. This is a unique opportunity to help build a new specialty service from the ground up, with comprehensive training provided prior to clinic opening.
Position Details
- Specialty: Ophthalmology
- Employment Type: Full-time
- Pay Range: $24.00 - $29.00 per hour, based on experience
Schedule
- Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
- Availability to work weekends in the future as the practice grows
Training & Location Information
- All hired technicians will complete initial training at Wheat Ridge Animal Hospital. Training will continue until the opening of our Denver Veterinary Specialists locations.
- We plan to open our Denver locations with a target opening of June 2026.

Qualifications
- Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) required
- Ophthalmology experience preferred but not required; training will be provided
- Solid foundation in general RVT skills, including patient handling and medical treatments
- Experience or willingness to learn ophthalmic diagnostics such as tonometry, Schirmer tear tests, and fluorescein staining
- Comfortable assisting with ophthalmic examinations, procedures, and surgeries
- Ability to safely restrain patients for detailed ocular evaluations
- Strong documentation skills and attention to detail
- Effective client communication skills, including education on medication administration and follow-up care
- Team-oriented with an interest in developing specialty-level skills
Key Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians with comprehensive ophthalmic examinations and diagnostic testing
- Perform and support ocular diagnostics, including tonometry, Schirmer tear tests, fluorescein staining, and ocular imaging
- Prepare patients for ophthalmic procedures, including safe and precise restraint
- Assist with ophthalmic surgeries and procedures while maintaining proper instrumentation and sterility
- Administer ophthalmic medications and treatments as directed
- Educate clients on medication administration, post-procedure care, and management of chronic eye conditions
- Maintain and operate ophthalmology-specific equipment, ensuring proper care and calibration
- Accurately document examinations, diagnostics, treatments, and patient responses
- Collaborate closely with ophthalmologists and the specialty team to deliver high-quality patient care

Base Pay$24—$29 USD
