Position Summary

Photronics is seeking (2) motivated interns to join our Research & Development (R&D) team. These roles offer hands-on experience in advanced photomask technology, focusing on either Computing/Data Integration or Process R&D. You will work alongside senior engineers to solve complex technical challenges, improve mask performance, and support critical qualifications that drive the next generation of semiconductor innovation.


Location: Photronics – Boise, ID(US). This is an on-site position.


Duration: 10-12 weeks

Responsibilities

  • Role A: Computing/Data Intern
    • Integrate advanced data tools for R&D and work closely with Data Integration engineers to set up operation engineering test masks.
    • Learn to fracture data and utilize advanced Optical Proximity Correction (OPC) data tools.
    • Develop R&D automation scripts to improve mask performance and eliminate technical coverage gaps.
  • Role B: Process R&D Intern
    • Assist in OPC matching, process tuning, and mask setup for critical qualifications.
    • Collaborate with Lithography, Metrology, and Back-end engineering teams to perform data analysis and process qualifications.
    • Utilize Photronics MT2 systems to perform standard tracking mask setup and expand knowledge of OPC matching processes.

Qualifications (knowledge, Skill & Qualification)

  • For Computing/Data: Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Matlab, C++, or System Verilog is necessary. Background in AI language building is a plus.
  • For Process R&D: Solid understanding of lithography, resist technology, and plasma etch processes.
  • Strong critical thinking and logical reasoning skills to identify patterns within complex R&D datasets.
  • Effective storytelling skills with the ability to present technical data insights to cross-functional R&D teams.

Education

  • Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field; coursework in semiconductor design and lithography preferred.
