Duties
- Conduct thorough physical examinations and diagnose medical conditions in dogs and cats.
- Perform surgical procedures, including spaying, neutering, and emergency surgeries, ensuring aseptic techniques are strictly followed.
- Administer vaccinations, medications, and treatments tailored to individual animal needs.
- Handle animal restraint safely and effectively during examinations and procedures to ensure safety for both animals and staff.
- Assist with laboratory tests, analyze results, and interpret veterinary terminology related to animal physiology and anatomy.
- Provide compassionate pet care advice to owners regarding nutrition, grooming, behavior, and general health maintenance.
- Support animal husbandry practices such as feeding protocols, grooming, and proper housing conditions to promote overall well-being.
- Utilize veterinary equipment for procedures like animal catheterization and maintain detailed medical records for each patient.
- Apply veterinary critical care techniques in emergency situations to stabilize critically ill animals.
- Maintain a clean and sterile environment by adhering to strict aseptic techniques during all procedures.
- Collaborate with team members on complex cases involving laboratory testing or specialized treatments such as equine care or advanced diagnostics
Qualifications
- Veterinary degree from an accredited institution with valid licensure or certification to practice veterinary medicine.
- Proven veterinary experience with a strong foundation in animal handling, anatomy knowledge, and veterinary terminology.
- Experience in veterinary critical care is highly desirable; familiarity with emergency response protocols is a plus.
- Knowledge of laboratory procedures and laboratory experience related to diagnostic testing is preferred.
- Skilled in pet care advice, and maintaining high standards of animal husbandry practices.
- Proficiency in aseptic technique during surgical procedures and other invasive treatments.
- Strong communication skills for effectively explaining treatment plans and health advice to pet owners.
- Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments while maintaining attention to detail during complex procedures such as animal catheterization or laboratory analysis.
