Job Description
We are seeking a Reagent Manufacturing Manager to oversee day-to-day operations across two shifts in reagent manufacturing. This role is responsible for planning through final packaging of calibrator packs, external standards, controls, and miscellaneous reagents supporting both core and OEM products.
Short-term goals include on-time delivery, high quality, and minimal scrap. Long-term goals focus on continuous improvement of products, personnel, and processes, working cross-functionally with R&D, QC/QA, Technical Support, and Engineering.
Reporting Relationships
This individual will manage a team that includes supervisors and managers.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day operations with an emphasis on continuous improvement and growth. Areas include: overtime control, scrap reduction, rework elimination, employee training, lead-time improvement, labor utilization, cost reduction, and productivity gains.
- Partner with Master Scheduling and Purchasing to meet customer demand, reduce raw and finished goods inventory, minimize scrap, and ensure smooth production flow.
- Review large orders to maximize product shelf life and set optimal ship dates.
- Oversee OEM production schedules to meet customer due dates.
- Manage Kanban systems for chemicals and packaging materials.
- Ensure SAP (or equivalent system) transactions and cycle counts are accurate to avoid downtime.
- Collaborate with engineering to periodically review and improve processes and products using lean manufacturing techniques.
- Develop employees through training, coaching, and professional development to build a high-performing team.
- Work closely with supervisors on pay plans, budgets, scrap reduction, and fiscal accountability aligned with corporate goals.
- Establish and track metrics for zero defects, scrap reduction, cycle count accuracy, and product yields.
- Foster strong teamwork and alignment with organizational objectives.
Qualifications
- Industrial Wastewater License Grade II or higher preferred.
- Knowledge of SAP or similar systems for inventory management.
- Strong understanding of assembly line manufacturing and labor requirements.
Skills & Competencies
- Effective communicator with knowledge of FDA QSR and ISO regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to multi-task and thrive in a collaborative team environment.
Education
- B.S./B.A. in Biology, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
Experience
- Minimum 10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office required.
