    Job Details
  • Provide quality patient care to all patients within the medical imaging department.
  • Perform high quality images and exams on patients while maintaining sensitivity to patient needs.
  • Follow standards of safe radiation practice.
  • Demonstrate leadership abilities and be a role model for other associate technologists.
  • Act as a clinical resource to students, staff technologists and other hospital personnel.
  • Assure current standards of practice for the unit.
  • Perform diagnostic radiology procedures, ensuring safety for self, patients and others.
  • Practice all rules and regulations pertaining to radiation safety, reducing exposure to ALARA.
  • Produce quality images in a complete, accurate and timely manner.
  • Prepare patient for exam and provide information and instruction to patient and/or family regarding the procedure.
  • Assist the patient during exam and position the patient.
  • Observe patient and equipment during the procedure and report/document unusual occurrences and patient's condition.
  • Facilitate smooth patient flow, scheduling and optimal use of equipment/resources.
  • Communicate in writing and verbally with physicians, imaging personnel, students and hospital staff to facilitate continuum of care.
  • Assist with patient transport as needed.
  • Perform IV starts and contrast administration as required.
  • Perform technologist duties of other registered modality as assigned by management.
  • Provide on-call coverage outside of standard scheduled hours per department/facility policy.
  • Correctly input charges and required data for procedures and supplies utilized.
  • Complete required hospital/medical imaging paperwork for each exam performed.
  • Prepare room, equipment, and exam materials needed for exam.
  • Maintain technical operation of equipment and notify service when necessary.
  • Notify supervisor of equipment problems and log service calls per department procedure.
  • Maintain clean work area for employees and patients.
  • Maintain quality checks and equipment maintenance documentation per department procedure.
  • Proactively identify problems and follow up with appropriate management personnel.
  • Establish motivating, constructive rapport with physicians, staff and system departments.
  • Maintain high skill level through ongoing education and meeting attendance; share information with staff.
  • Assist in clinical and/or didactic education of student radiographers and other health care professionals.
  • Participate in clinical training and provide support to students, staff technologists and hospital personnel.
  • Provide guidance for development of clinical skills, explain equipment and department procedure, support hospital and program policies/procedures.
  • Engage in professional activities through involvement in organizations, journal clubs, online education, etc.
  • Actively participate in department/hospital quality and process improvement initiatives.
    Job Requirements
  • Knowledgeable in all aspects of Diagnostic Imaging including Surgery and Trauma as required.
  • Previous Radiologic Technologist experience preferred.
  • One year post certification experience required to evaluate and/or instruct student radiographers.
    Additional Details
  • Floating may be required to any CommonSpirit location within sixty (60) miles of the original assignment location or CommonSpirit-identified “float zone”.
  • Float assignments may include duties outside of original assignment job requirements (including skill set) in accordance with CommonSpirit policy.
