Lead Manufacturing Engineer Build the First Scalable Microreactor Production Line!


Opportunity Summary

A venture-backed deep tech startup is building a compact, zero-emissions nuclear microreactor that can deliver clean power in the most critical and remote environments. As Lead Manufacturing Engineer, youll play a key role in designing and launching the first production line for this groundbreaking technology, partnering across engineering, factory ops, and supply chain to bring the product from prototype to production.

Were on a mission to redefine distributed power by developing the worlds first mass-manufactured portable nuclear microreactor. Our system offers a clean, reliable alternative to diesel generators and aims to provide scalable energy for disaster relief, off-grid operations, and backup power needs. With a team of seasoned engineers and scientists, were progressing rapidly toward full-scale testing and commercialization.


Job Duties

  • Lead the design and implementation of a new production line for a first-of-its-kind energy system
  • Oversee a growing team of manufacturing engineers and technicians
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with design, supply chain, and factory operations
  • Define and manage capital equipment requirements, tooling, and layouts
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives for quality, efficiency, and throughput
  • Develop processes for refueling, assembly, and final integration


Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in mechanical, manufacturing, or related engineering field
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing mechanical systems in a production environment
  • Strong leadership skills and experience driving technical projects to completion

Preferred Experience

  • Masters degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering
  • Experience standing up new product production lines, including tooling and automation
  • Background in machining operations (milling, turning, grinding, EDM)
  • Familiarity with CAD tools (NX or similar) and complex assembly design
  • Knowledge of GD&T, inspection tools (CMMs, gauges), and non-destructive testing methods
  • Experience with custom machine and electromechanical system design
  • Strong communicator and mentor with a hands-on, proactive work style

Compensation Details

$135,000 - $185,000 plus equity
