XR/CT Technologist Responsibilities:CT Imaging

  • Perform CT scans of various anatomical regions as ordered by the provider, ensuring image accuracy, clarity, and diagnostic quality.
  • Prepare patients for procedures, explaining the process and addressing any concerns to ensure comfort and cooperation.
  • Administer IV or oral contrast media per established protocols under physician supervision.
  • Monitor patients throughout procedures, observing for reactions or distress.
  • Review patient information, orders, and histories to confirm the correct exam and maintain safety.
  • Maintain and calibrate CT equipment, reporting any malfunctions promptly.
  • Collaborate with radiologists and referring providers to optimize exam protocols and ensure diagnostic value.

X-Ray Imaging (XR Duties)

  • Perform routine and specialized diagnostic radiographic procedures (chest, extremities, spine, abdomen, etc.) as ordered.
  • Position patients correctly to obtain optimal radiographic images while minimizing radiation exposure.
  • Apply appropriate radiation safety practices and use shielding in accordance with ALARA standards.
  • Evaluate images for proper positioning, exposure, and overall quality prior to submission for interpretation.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and enter imaging data into the PACS/RIS system.
  • Assist in portable and urgent imaging needs as required by clinical operations.

General Responsibilities

  • Uphold patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and organizational privacy standards.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized imaging environment; ensure equipment sanitation between uses.
  • Participate in continuing education to remain current on evolving CT and radiography technologies and best practices.
  • Follow infection control procedures and safety policies at all times.
  • Support cross-training and collaborative teamwork across imaging modalities.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by leadership.

WHAT DO YOU NEED?


Education / Certifications / LicensesRequired

  • Associate’s degree in Radiologic Technology, Medical Imaging, or related field (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
  • ARRT certification in Radiography (R) and Computed Tomography (CT), or eligibility to obtain CT credential within the required timeframe.
  • Current State of Wyoming Radiologic Technologist License (or eligibility to obtain prior to start).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through AHA.

Preferred

  • Additional CT or XR specialty training and/or certifications from recognized professional organizations.
  • Membership in ASRT or similar professional associations.

Experience

  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience as a Radiologic Technologist, including at least 1 year in CT imaging.
  • Experience in an outpatient or hospital diagnostic imaging department preferred.
  • Proficiency with PACS, RIS, and EMR systems is desirable.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Strong working knowledge of CT and X-ray equipment, imaging protocols, and radiation safety principles.
  • Thorough understanding of anatomy, positioning, and cross-sectional imaging.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with patients and clinical team members.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining high standards of patient care.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify image quality and technical issues.
  • Organizational and multitasking skills to manage workflow efficiently in a fast-paced clinical setting.
  • Professional demeanor with empathy and respect for diverse patient populations.
