Job Description
Job Description
Steffens Insurance Group has served the same market, the same families, for almost 40 years.
We handle personal lines, commercial P&C, and financial planning under one roof, for clients who've been with this firm long enough to send their kids our way. The team is small, and we're building it carefully.
We're looking for a licensed Personal Lines Account Manager who understands that in a firm like this, the relationship is the product.
What you'll own:
- Manage a book of personal lines accounts: renewals, endorsements, policy changes, and coverage questions handled accurately and on time.
- Be the consistent point of contact that clients call and trust. Their experience with SIG runs through you.
- Quote new business and process policy transactions with the accuracy this industry requires. Errors here follow the client and the firm for years.
- Coordinate with carriers and internal teams to resolve issues before they become client problems.
- Maintain documentation in the agency management system with the precision that keeps audits clean and renewals smooth.
Who this is for:
You have an active Wisconsin P&C license and 1 to 2 years of agency experience. You know the difference between a good renewal conversation and a transaction. You don't let documentation slip, because missed endorsements and late renewals have a way of becoming your problem at the worst time. You work well without someone managing your calendar.
This isn't for someone who wants a large firm with a support team around every task. SIG runs lean, and clients know your name.
What SIG offers:
- $42,000–$58,000 base salary based on experience, plus performance bonus
- Health, dental, and vision insurance
- Short-term disability and life insurance
- Extended holiday weekends and paid time off
- Licensing support and professional development
- A locally owned agency where clients are families in this county, not a territory on a spreadsheet
Compensation:
$42,000 - $58,000 yearly
Responsibilities:
- Manage a personal lines book of business end-to-end: renewals, endorsements, policy changes, and coverage questions resolved accurately and on time.
- Be the primary contact clients trust to pick up the phone, know their situation, and handle it. Every interaction reflects on SIG's 40-year reputation in this market.
- Quote new business and process policy transactions with the accuracy Wisconsin P&C compliance requires.
- Coordinate with carriers to resolve coverage issues, billing questions, and service requests before they escalate to client complaints.
- Maintain agency management system documentation with precision. Clean records keep renewals smooth, audits clean, and Derek out of the details.
- Identify coverage gaps or cross-sell opportunities during renewal conversations and surface them to the appropriate advisor.
- Support Derek and the team with operational tasks and special projects when they arise.
Qualifications:
- Must have an active Wisconsin P&C insurance license. No exceptions.
- 1 to 2 years of personal lines experience within a P&C agency
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel)
- Ability to manage a client-facing workload with accuracy and follow-through. This role has no backup.
- US work authorization
- Ability to work onsite in Waterford, WI
About Company
Steffens Insurance Group is a family-owned independent agency in Waterford, WI. Mike Steffens spent 44 years building it. Derik, Jake, and Katie are running it now. We handle the complexity most small-market agencies hand off — full commercial and personal lines P&C through SIG, combined with sophisticated financial planning through V3 Financial, for clients who’ve been with us long enough to refer their kids. They’re not shopping for the cheapest policy. They’re paying for continuity with people who know them. We hire A-players because one wrong hire in a firm this size affects everyone, and because the people here hold a standard they’re not willing to lower.
