Overview
Trove FS, headquartered in Stamford, CT serves high net worth individuals and their families, new entrepreneurs, and owners of complex, closely held businesses by providing expert, highly specialized, bespoke financial and personalized wealth administration services.
What We Do
The tax department serves as a family’s controller and tax advisor, collecting and structuring their transaction data, advising them on tax and estate matters and reporting on investment performance and allocations.
Internship Program
We have an exciting opportunity for students looking to gain hands on accounting and tax experience. This position will work directly with the tax department to help meet various client deadlines during the upcoming tax season. The internship will take place during the Spring semester from January to April in our Stamford, CT office. While working under several accounting and tax professionals, our interns will receive hands on training to ensure they have a valuable experience to help launch their careers. This is a paid internship position, with the ability to receive college credit if needed. No tax experience required!
Learning Objectives:
- Understand the various types of tax filings (1040s, 1065s, 1120S, etc.)
- Be able to identify tax forms and know their purpose (W-2s, 1099s, etc.)
- Effectively communicate with staff and management in a professional manner
- Utilize and learn the tax software for return preparation
- Build foundational knowledge of tax matters to fast-track your career advancement from preparer to advisor
Primary Responsibilities:
- Prepare 1099s for a variety of business clients
- Review and organize client files into excel and PDF tax workpapers
- Assist with the preparation of U.S. Individual Income Tax Returns
- Work with staff and partners on various task specific projects
- Administrative tasks such as opening client mail and scanning to our tax software
Qualifications:
- Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s in accounting or related field with a minimum GPA of 3.0
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated skills in the areas of communication, interpersonal skills, relationship building, collaboration, and problem solving
- Highly motivated and takes initiative for professional growth and development
- Open to receiving constructive feedback
- Within commutable distance to work at least 20 hours a week in the Stamford, CT office
