Job DescriptionDescription:

First Steps Recovery is a full-continuum program specializing in addiction treatment. We are committed to the safety, comfort, and success of every resident that comes to us seeking treatment. As such, we provide clients with all of the resources they need to begin treatment for drug and alcohol addiction and recover from that addiction, as well as provide the tools to help them learn how to enjoy life again.


Requirements:

The Director of Nursing / Program Director upholds and manages all aspects of the Residential operations in accordance

with State and Joint Commission standards. The Director of Nursing / Program Director is responsible for the day-to-day

operations of the Residential LOC and the logistics of clients during the intake and discharge/LOC step down processes.


Essential Functions

  • Manage & assist with operational staff in all daily operations of Residential services
  • Manage & assist with audits, client intakes and discharges
  • Manage & assist client’s LOC step-up/step-down/transfer & discharge procedures
  • Manage & assist with urinalysis collections, pick up, and results
  • Manage & assist with controlled and non-controlled medication, records, and storage
  • Manage client case files from incidents to medication compliance
  • Manage operations staff including training, reviews, and disciplinary issues
  • Maintain a high standard of environment of care, conduct daily facility walk throughs
  • Report facility needs and requirements to appropriate department heads
  • Develop scheduling for operational detox and residential staff
  • Review, approve, and unapproved time off requests, sick time, unpaid time off, etc..
  • Document and keep records of call outs/ late staff
  • Work collaboratively to create training documentation and reference guides
  • Empty, audit and ship out medication destruction safes
  • Conduct initial trainings with operational new hires
  • Participates in agency quality improvement and/or activities
  • Provide crisis response as needed 24hrs per day per agreed management's on call schedule.
  • Monitor facility security cameras and surveillance.
  • Communicate and establish working relationships with treatment partners, referring facilities, and next level of care providers to ensure high quality continuity of care for clients.
  • Communicate with pharmacies, physician, RN, and NP(s) for appropriate client medication management.
  • Communicates with Shift leads on a regular basis to evaluate operations staff performance and needs.
  • Coordinate and facilitate new hire interviews
  • Demonstrate organizational compliance with all appropriate professional standards, licensing and certification requirements, and the respective conditions for the delivery of addiction treatment, behavioral health care programming and clinical services
  • Monitor client census, make necessary assignments/adjustments to staff workloads in a manner that supports ideal client care
  • Ensure that all services being provided are in compliance with HIPAA, JC, and DHCS licensing and accreditation requirements
  • Communication with referral sources as necessary
  • Coordinate initial and ongoing trainings for staff with Training Coordinator
  • Perform qualitative chart audits as required to ensure compliance with organizational, contracted providers, local, and state regulations
  • Uphold and enforce FSR standards, policies and procedures, client rights and professional code of ethics and conduct
  • Intervene during crisis intervention situations
  • Adhere to code of ethics, legal aspects of clinical practice, professional standards, duty to warn, abuse and neglect reporting policies and procedures, and exercise professionalism at all times.
  • Exercise awareness in cultural competency, client satisfaction, quality of 2services, client needs, and overall health and safety staff and clients.

Competencies:

  • Ability to multi-task, delegate tasks, manage client care, maintain detox standards
  • Desire to assist those with chemical dependency in their recovery
  • Ability to manage staff with respect to screening, assessment, individualized treatment, planning, crisis intervention, group and individual counseling, case management, referral, discharge/LOC step- down summaries, clinical documentation, and professional ethics
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with subordinate staff, supervisors, utilization reviews, managed health care clinicians, and medical and mental health professionals.
  • Ability to positively interact and develop rapport with clients and their families.
  • Ability to develop systems and methodologies for continuous improvement of detox and treatment modalities.
  • Ability to evaluate and review effectiveness of detox,services, and group therapy designs.
  • Ability to maintain culture of care that is conducive for maximum benefit of both clients and staff.
  • Understanding of diverse cultures and gender specific issues and ability to incorporate needs of gender and culturally diverse groups into practice setting.

Education:

Nursing license in CA, valid, unexpired, required

High School Diploma / GED, required

Bachelors level degree in nursing, preferred


Experience:

2 years experience in the field of addiction and mental health or equivalent human services work experience preferred.

Computer Skills:

  • Computer Literacy in doc, spreadsheet, and email.
  • Proficiency in electronic medical records software (KIPU Systems Client Management preferred)

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Current CPR/First AID certification
