Assistant Clinic Manager (Medical Assistant Preferred)
DEPARTMENT: Family Medicine
REPORTS TO: Clinic Manager
Position Summary
The Assistant Clinic Manager is a key operational leader within a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) environment, responsible for supporting the Clinic Manager in the oversight of daily clinic operations. This role ensures efficient workflows, regulatory compliance, and delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care aligned with HRSA requirements.
The Assistant Clinic Manager works closely with providers and staff to coordinate front and back office functions and may serve in a dual capacity as a Medical Assistant, providing direct clinical support as needed.
Responsibilities
Operational Support:
• Assist in managing day-to-day clinic operations to ensure efficient service delivery
• Support oversight of front and back office workflows
• Ensure proper staffing coverage and coordination
• Maintain clinic supplies, equipment, and ensure timely repairs
• Ensure laboratory work is processed in a timely manner
Staff Supervision & Development:
• Provide day-to-day supervision and oversight of clinical and administrative staff
• Monitor employee performance to ensure organizational standards are met
• Assist with onboarding and training of staff
• Support accountability, discipline, and performance management
• Motivate staff to maintain productivity and patient-centered care
Patient Experience & Clinical Support:
• Ensure high levels of patient satisfaction and service
• Support providers with clinical workflow needs
• Perform Medical Assistant duties as needed
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA and patient confidentiality
Compliance & Financial Oversight
• Ensure compliance with HRSA, federal, state, and organizational regulations
• Support sliding fee discount program compliance
• Assist in monitoring billing and revenue cycle processes
Quality & Safety:
• Maintain a safe and compliant work environment
• Support quality improvement initiatives and performance metrics
Other Duties:
• Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in health-related field preferred
• Minimum 1 year supervisory experience in outpatient clinic
• Medical Assistant experience strongly preferred
• Experience with EMR/EHR systems
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to collaborate with teams
• Bilingual Spanish preferred
