Location: Independence, Missouri
Job Type: Permanent
Schedule: Evenings – Monday through Thursday, 2:00 PM to Midnight
Call Requirement: Rotating call every 3 weeks

Compensation

  • Pay Range: $53.12/hr – $61.99/hr
  • Compensation heavily based on years of experience

Sign-On Bonus

  • $25,000 Sign-On Bonus
  • 2-year commitment required
  • Bonus paid in increments

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Emergency Room Registered Nurse Manager to lead and oversee trauma and emergency care operations within a fast-paced acute care environment. This leadership role is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive trauma care system while ensuring high-quality patient care, operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

The ER RN Manager will work closely with physicians, EMS providers, emergency response agencies, hospital leadership, and trauma teams to support trauma program development and emergency department performance initiatives.

Key ResponsibilitiesTrauma Program Leadership

  • Develop and maintain an effective trauma care system
  • Coordinate trauma patient care throughout the continuum of care
  • Serve as liaison between the hospital and:
    • EMS providers
    • Fire departments
    • Ambulance services
    • Police departments
    • State trauma authorities
  • Support emergency department operations and trauma response initiatives

Clinical Oversight & Quality Improvement

  • Conduct concurrent monitoring and evaluation of trauma and emergency care services
  • Review trauma medical records and maintain trauma registry documentation
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and implement corrective action plans
  • Monitor trauma response quality and patient outcomes
  • Lead quality improvement and patient safety initiatives

Policy Development & Compliance

  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures aligned with:
    • Current evidence-based practices
    • Trauma care standards
    • State trauma directives
  • Ensure compliance with trauma reporting systems and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain readiness for accreditation and trauma designation reviews

Trauma Designation & Readiness

  • Coordinate preparation for:
    • State trauma designation reviews
    • American College of Surgeons (ACS) site visits
  • Assist with ongoing trauma program readiness and compliance initiatives

Education & Professional Development

  • Maintain current trauma and emergency nursing knowledge through:
    • Research
    • Conferences
    • Continuing education
    • Professional certifications
  • Mentor and support nursing staff development

Operational Support

  • Respond to trauma team activations during work hours
  • Provide leadership and guidance during trauma responses
  • Collaborate with emergency department leadership and physicians on operational initiatives

Required QualificationsEducation

  • Nursing Degree required
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of recent trauma patient care experience in an acute care setting
  • Prior leadership or emergency department management experience preferred

Licensure & Certifications

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license required

Required Certifications

  • BLS
  • ACLS
  • PALS
  • TNCC

Preferred Certification

  • CEN Certification preferred
