About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Controls Engineer to design, program, and install custom automation systems. In this role, you'll handle PLC/HMI programming, machine debugging, and integration of robotics, vision, and motion control systems. You'll also provide technical support to customers, mentor junior engineers, and lead projects with minimal supervision.
This position is ideal for an experienced automation professional who thrives on solving complex problems and enjoys both hands-on work and leadership responsibilities.
What You'll Do

Develop PLC and HMI programs to meet project specifications

Program peripheral devices including robotics, vision, and motion control systems

Perform machine debug, validation, and installation/startup at customer sites

Assist in hardware design and requirements development

Mentor and guide junior engineers (Controls Engineer I & II)

Provide occasional technical support/service calls to customers

Travel 25–35% (primarily domestic, with some international assignments)

Follow all safety policies and maintain a safe, organized work environment
What We're Looking For

10+ years of experience in automation (PLC, HMI, motion control, robotics)

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics

Knowledge of mechanical systems (pneumatics, hydraulics, motor controllers)

Familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC)

Excellent communication skills and ability to meet deadlines

High attention to detail and quality standards

High School Diploma required; Bachelor's in Engineering preferred
