Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Located in Washington, DC, this full-time, onsite special education teaching opportunity spans the 2025-2026 school year, starting July 31st and concluding June 18th. Serving an elementary school setting, this contract-to-hire role supports students across multiple grade levels in specialized settings with small caseloads, fostering inclusive and tailored learning experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction for students in grades Kindergarten through 1st, 5th, and 6th/7th in small group and pull-out inclusion settings.
- Manage caseloads of fewer than 10 students, delivering personalized educational support.
- Collaborate with educators across different buildings on the same campus to ensure a coordinated approach.
- Prepare and deliver effective lessons, including a demo lesson as part of the onsite interview process.
- Maintain pliance with special education laws and implement individualized education programs (IEPs).
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- Experience as a Special Education Teacher with knowledge of inclusion strategies and small group instruction.
- ELA/English teaching experience is a plus but not mandatory.
- Flexibility regarding licensure: candidates with out-of-state licenses are encouraged to apply.
- Strong organizational and munication skills to manage caseloads efficiently.
Work Schedule and Environment:
- Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 4:30pm (45 hours weekly).
- Work onsite exclusively in a dynamic elementary school environment.
