Job Title: On Call Hospice
Location: North Kansas City, Missouri
Salary: $80,000-$85,000
Shift: On-call overnight coverage, 5:00 PM to 9:00 AM, Monday through Thursday
Weekend Requirements: As needed, including holidays
On-Call: Yes

Job Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Registered Nurse to provide on-call hospice care during overnight hours. This role focuses on delivering patient-centered, comfort-based care while supporting patients and families through end-of-life needs. The nurse works under the direction of the Director of Clinical Services and Hospice Medical Director to ensure compliance with hospice standards and continuity of high-quality care across the assigned coverage area.

Coverage Details:

  • Coverage Area: North Kansas City, including Liberty, Platte City, Excelsior Springs, Blue Springs, and Independence
  • Average Daily Mileage: Approximately 50 to 100 miles per day, typically 50–70 miles
  • Mileage Reimbursement: $0.45 per mile, excluding mileage to and from home

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Coordinate hospice care with interdisciplinary team members, patients, and families
    • Conduct initial and ongoing comprehensive patient assessments
    • Develop, implement, and maintain individualized plans of care
    • Provide professional nursing care using the nursing process
    • Perform on-call duties, including nights and holidays, as required
    • Administer treatments and medications as ordered by physicians
    • Monitor patient condition and promptly communicate changes to physicians and leadership
    • Provide education to patients and families regarding the dying process, plan of care, and healthcare decisions
    • Perform death visits in accordance with agency policy
    • Supervise Hospice Aides and LPNs per regulatory and agency standards
    • Maintain accurate, timely, and complete clinical documentation
    • Participate in IDG meetings, case conferences, QAPI activities, and staff development
    • Ensure compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, federal, state, and accreditation requirements

    Required Qualifications:

    • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
    • Active Registered Nurse license in Missouri and Kansas
    • One year of RN experience preferred
    • One year of hospice experience preferred
    • Strong assessment, clinical judgment, and problem-solving skills
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Valid driver's license with an insured automobile in good working order
    • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and travel throughout the coverage area
