GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Hydraulics Assembler is responsible for reading engineering drawings, schematics, and diagrams to install, connect, and test all hydraulic components that bring our aerial lift units to operational status. This position plays a key role in delivering high-quality, reliable equipment by ensuring systems are built to exact specifications and tested thoroughly for safety and performance. The ideal candidate has a strong mechanical aptitude, is detail-oriented, and takes pride in producing clean, precise hydraulic installations that meet or exceed customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install all hydraulic components, including PTOs, pumps, valves, cylinders, actuators, reservoirs, filters, hoses, and fittings, per schematics and engineering drawings.
- Fabricate and install mounting hardware and custom brackets for hydraulic components.
- Assemble and install hydraulic hoses; ensure all fittings and connections meet cleanliness and torque standards.
- Perform system start-up procedures including pressure testing and flow verification; set relief valves and flow rates using gauges and flow meters.
- Troubleshoot, document, and resolve hydraulic issues during installation and testing phases.
- Install related electrical components including 12-volt valve wiring and 120/240-volt generator and outlet connections.
- Ensure all work complies with internal specifications, manufacturer guidelines, and customer requirements.
- Maintain accurate documentation including timecards, installation logs, and test results.
- Support continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to improve installation processes or hydraulic designs.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in accordance with company safety policies.
- Assist with equipment maintenance, stability testing, and resolving field service issues when necessary.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 3–5 years of experience in hydraulic system installation or equivalent technical training.
- Ability to read and interpret hydraulic schematics, engineering drawings, and technical manuals.
- General mechanical capability and strong troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to use a wide variety of hand and power tools, both electric and pneumatic.
- Experience operating overhead cranes, jacks, and forklifts.
- Comfortable working in and around large truck chassis; must be able to lift up to 75 lbs., climb ladders, and crawl under equipment.
- Capable of working independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
- Must be willing to work flexible hours as needed.
- Preferred: CDL Class B license or ability to obtain one.
