Registered Nurse (RN) – Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) | Des Moines, IA

Duration: 13 weeks
Shift Type: Days
Shift Schedule:

  • Monday–Friday, 6:30 AM – 5:00 PM, 4x10s with rotating day off
  • Call: Up to 2 overnights/week and 4 weekends per 13-week contract
  • Weekend call: Friday 5:00 PM – Monday 6:30 AM

Unit Info:

  • Bed size: 16, patient ratios 1:1
  • Average caseload: 35–50 cases/day, turnover expectation <20 minutes
  • Equipment: 3 daVinci robots, Stealth technology for Neuro navigation, Synthes/Stryker for ortho trauma
  • Suites: 16 ORs, routinely running 12–14; Level 1 trauma center
  • Service lines: Cardiac/PV, Neuro, Ortho (primarily trauma), Robotics, GYN, Urology, General, Pediatrics, Transplants, ENT, Plastics, Vascular
  • Scrub or circulate – both preferred
  • Floating required across multiple campuses: Iowa Methodist MC, Iowa Lutheran, Iowa Methodist

Requirements:

  • 2+ years current OR experience – Required
  • Circulating and OR experience – Required
  • Strong experience in Cardiac, Vascular, Thoracic – Required
  • Basic General Surgery circulating experience – Required
  • Trauma Level I/II experience – Highly Preferred
  • Scrub experience, including open heart – Highly Preferred
  • EPIC EMR experience within last 3 years – Required
  • Previous travel experience within last 12 months – Required
  • Iowa RN license or compact/multistate – Required
  • BLS (AHA or ARC) – Required

Preferred Case Experience:
daVinci robotics, pediatrics, trauma, neurology, orthopedics (primarily trauma), gynecology, urology, transplants, plastics, ENT, vascular

This is a high-volume, advanced CVOR opportunity in a Level 1 trauma center in Des Moines, IA, with a collaborative team and exposure to a wide variety of surgical specialties.
