POSITION SUMMARY
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading all maintenance activities within a pet food
manufacturing facility to ensure reliable, safe, and efficient operations. This position ensures equipment
and facilities are maintained to support production goals while complying with food safety, quality, and
regulatory standards, including FDA, FSMA, and OSHA requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise and manage all maintenance and electrical personnel
- Assign, prioritize, and track maintenance work orders
- Develop, schedule, and manage a preventive maintenance (PM) program
- Ensure timely completion of repairs to minimize equipment downtime
- Maintain compliance with OSHA, safety, and company policies
- Ensure maintenance activities support food safety and quality programs
- Maintain plant equipment efficiency and safety
- Manage maintenance parts inventory and costs
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Communicate maintenance needs with production and quality teams
- Ensure adherence to proper repair procedures
- Assist production leadership with equipment adjustments
- Coordinate with outside vendors and contractors
- Maintain vendor invoices and service documentation
- Maintain accurate maintenance records
- Support safety and food safety audits
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong mechanical and electrical knowledge
- Ability to read wiring schematics and drawings
- Proficient computer skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Leadership and problem-solving abilities
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Technical or college coursework preferred
- Minimum of 5 years maintenance experience in manufacturing
- Previous supervisory experience required
- Food or pet food manufacturing experience preferred
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, including standing, walking, bending, lifting up to 50
pounds, and using required PPE. Exposure to noise, dust, heat, and moving equipment.
