Leading global law firm Based in Los Angeles is looking for a bright and upbeat new Payroll Assistant will be responsible for the full payroll processing for up to 2,200 employees on a semi-monthly basis. The Payroll Assistant maintains payroll information by collecting, calculating, and entering data into the payroll system either manually or via interface.
This role reports to the Payroll Manager.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing day-to-day payroll support including answering employee payroll related questions.
 - Working independently and within a team on ongoing and special projects.
 - Manual check processing.
 - Running ad hoc reports in Report Writer, Time & Attendance system, and CMS.
 - Preparing Excel reports, tables and charts.
 - Preparing and sorting of payroll checks and mailings.
 - Maintaining highly confidential employee payroll records and information, and ensuring records are kept confidential in accordance with federal and state regulations and firm guidelines.
 - Garnishments, liens, and child support orders processing and management.
 - Completing employment verifications in accordance with firm policy.
 - Unclaimed checks, stop payments, and check adjustment processes.
 
Qualifications:
- Excellent customer service background and
 - familiarity working with numbers and high-volume administration
 - Effective communication skills and follow-through with employees of all levels of the organization.
 - Strong organizational, multi-tasking and analytical skills.
 - Ability to perform successfully in a deadline-oriented environment.
 
Experience:
- 0-2 years of experience in Payroll processing.
 - High School Diploma at minimum
 - Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
 - Experience with Workforce Now or ADP system preferred.
 - Experience with Enterprise eTime or Workforce manager a plus.
 - Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures of the payroll field is desired.
 - Knowledge of federal and state overtime and applicable labor laws preferred.
 - Experience with all types of wage garnishments preferred.
 - Demonstrated knowledge of wage and hour regulations preferred.
