CoAspire is hiring two full-time Business Systems Analyst (Systems Integrator-2) who can support off-site the Department of Commerce's Bureau of Industry and Security on-site in Downtown Washington, DC as a CoAspire employee. Successful applicants must be US citizens and able to obtain a Public Trust Security Clearance. This is a full-time position with benefits and a starting annual salary of $75,000 to $85,000 annually based on experience.
This is a great position for a very bright BA/BS college graduate with work experience, who is a great analyst and communicator. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated high academic performance and demonstrated leadership skills who can effectively and quickly analyze information, and can focus on analyzing global supply chains, especially for metallurgical products and other strategic goods.
Job Description:
This position is currently a remote position supporting the Department of Commerce's Bureau of Industry and Security in Washington DC.
Seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Business Analyst (SI-2) to support the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) in its critical mission to protect U.S. national and economic security. This role is centered on analyzing global supply chains—especially for metallurgical products and other strategic goods—and generating actionable insights that support decision-making in export controls, industrial base resilience, and trade compliance.
The ideal candidate brings a unique blend of project management, intelligence analysis, data analytics, and technical writing skills, with a keen understanding of international trade and national security implications.
As previously mentioned, the successful candidate must be an excellent communicator, both verbal and written, capture requirements and ensure products meet requirements, are quality-reviewed, and are delivered on time.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct deep-dive quantitative and qualitative research into international supply chains, mapping the origin, flow, and risk exposure of critical imports into the U.S.
- Analyze tariffs, exclusions, and trade data to identify patterns, vulnerabilities, and opportunities related to U.S. economic security.
- Perform QA/QC of internal and external processes tied to tariff and trade datasets, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
- Develop and refine detailed reports, dashboards, and data visualizations to support senior-level briefings and strategic decision-making.
- Collaborate with BIS economists, policy analysts, and technical teams to identify and assess critical sectors, strategic materials, and national security concerns.
- Translate complex technical data into executive-level summaries, white papers, and recommendations for interagency stakeholders.
- Identify system enhancement opportunities, including business rules and process improvements that support supply chain risk analysis and reporting.
- Stay current on global trade developments, sanctions, and export control regulations affecting critical materials and goods.
- Contribute to multidisciplinary projects focused on industrial base resilience, sanctions enforcement, and emerging technologies.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in international Affairs, Economics, Data Science, Business Analytics, or a related field (Master’s preferred). Top Educational Institution and US Veteran a plus.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in data analysis, international trade, intelligence, or systems integration.
- Strong proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI, Tableau) and working with large, complex datasets.
- Experience generating detailed trade and tariff reports with high technical accuracy and policy relevance.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proven ability to synthesize complex data into digestible insights for leadership.
- Working knowledge of U.S. trade policy, export controls, tariffs, and sanctions regimes.
- Familiarity with federal systems and workflows, particularly in a policy or national security context.
- U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain a security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting the Department of Commerce, BIS, or similar federal clients.
- Previous exposure to QA/QC practices in data systems or intelligence environments.
- Experience working with supply chain risk management or critical materials analysis.
