The Difference Society is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering K–12 students and young adults from under-resourced communities through financial literacy, entrepreneurship, career exploration, and youth development programs. Our mission is to break generational cycles of poverty by equipping youth and families with the tools and knowledge needed for economic stability and long-term success.
Position Overview
We are seeking Program Instructors to deliver engaging, hands-on lessons at our DC and PG County program sites. Program Instructors will facilitate sessions in financial literacy, entrepreneurship, career readiness, life skills, and creative enrichment (such as art, trades, and wellness).
This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about teaching, inspiring youth, and creating safe, supportive, and empowering learning environments.
Key Responsibilities

Facilitate high-quality, engaging lessons for K–12 youth based on The Difference Society’s curriculum.

Lead activities in financial literacy, entrepreneurship, life skills, and enrichment subjects.

Create a positive, inclusive, and structured learning environment.

Adapt lesson plans to meet the diverse needs and learning styles of students.

Maintain attendance records, distribute program materials, and report session outcomes.

Support students in developing their business ideas, life skills, and leadership abilities.

Collaborate with Program Managers, Site Coordinators, and other team members to ensure smooth program delivery.

Serve as a role model, promoting respect, teamwork, and positive behavior.
Qualifications

Experience working with youth in educational or community settings (after-school, classroom, or youth programs).

Strong communication, facilitation, and classroom management skills.

Creativity and ability to make lessons engaging and hands-on.

Reliable, flexible, and able to work independently.

Must pass all required background checks and clearances (DCPS & PG County schools).

Preferred experience individuals with a clearance

Preferred: Experience teaching financial literacy, entrepreneurship, or enrichment activities (art, trades, wellness, etc.).
Schedule:

Weekday afternoons (approx. 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM)

Sometimes during the school day for an hour

Occasional evenings/weekends for special events
Requirements:
-
Must have 2–3 years of instructor experience
