We're representing a high-end custom home builder seeking an experienced Accountant / Bookkeeper to manage full-cycle accounting with a construction focus. You'll be integral in draw management, job costing, compliance, and financial reporting — ensuring transparency and integrity in project finances.

Responsibilities:

  • Process accounts payable (vendor invoices) and accounts receivable (client invoices, draw requests), coding to projects & cost codes.

  • Prepare draw request packages and coordinate with lenders, clients, and internal teams.

  • Maintain accurate job cost accounting: daily transaction logs, allocations, variance analysis & reconciliations.

  • Produce monthly financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow), plus project-specific reports.

  • Reconcile vendor accounts, retainage, loan accounts, and intercompany entries.

  • Conduct post-project financial reviews to capture lessons and update cost assumptions.

  • Ensure strict internal controls, document retention, and compliance with financial and lending standards.

Qualifications:

  • 3–5 years of accounting / bookkeeping experience, ideally in construction or project-based businesses.

  • Familiarity with QuickBooks, BuilderTrend or similar PM/accounting platforms.

  • Solid understanding of job cost accounting, draw cycles, and project-based finance.

  • High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.

  • Strong interpersonal/communication skills for liaising with PMs, vendors, clients, and auditors.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Base salary competitive based on experience.

  • Eligibility for performance-based bonus (e.g. on accuracy, cost savings, timely draw approvals).

  • Benefits (health, dental, vision, retirement/401k).

  • Paid time off, holidays, flexible work environment (with required in-office schedule).

  • Career growth potential (opportunity to advance into a Controller role)

  • Positive, team-centered culture and participation in company-wide events or perks.
