Job Title: Telecom Communication Lineman

Department: Telecommunications

Reports To: Foreman

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Work Schedule: Four 10-hour days per week.

Position Purpose:

Install and maintain overhead and underground fiber optic systems. Able to perform all duties of Telecom Communication Aerial maintenance and Line work which may include installing and removing various anchors systems and lashing and de-lashing existing cable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Experience in OSP Fiber pulling & installations
  • Understanding of separation and clearance
  • Knowledge of ADSS fiber cabling construction and
  • Job includes operating bucket trucks to Lash and De-Lash Existing & New Cable
  • Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, ladders, and construction equipment
  • Knowledge of lashing
  • Install and remove down guy/anchor, sidewalk arms, and guy guards
  • Be proficient in pole climbing and working from Hooks/Gaffs.
  • Read and interpret engineering
  • Prepare daily production
  • Completes paperwork, timesheets, test results, vehicle inspection, and
  • Assist in coordinating local utilities, when
  • Scheduling plant related activities for construction and / or
  • Submit reports on all construction activity, daily, weekly and monthly as
  • Attending training classes in new technology and safety as
  • Operate Company vehicles in a safe and responsible manner: Clean, maintain, stock, and
  • Frequent sitting, standing, climbing, and bending.

Physical Aspects:

  • The physical demands described here are typical of those that must be met by a team-member to successfully perform the essential functions of their job in powerline construction.
  • While performing the duties of this job, team-members are regularly required to talk or listen. The team-member is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, and feel; and reach with hands and arms.
  • The team-member is frequently required to perform rigorous physical labor; sit; climb different types of structures (wood, steel, etc.); or balance; and stoop, kneel crouch or crawl. Team-members frequently lift or move up to or in-excess of 80 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, team-members may frequently be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. Team-members are occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. Powerline construction work is performed outside and is subject to diverse weather conditions.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must have a minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in all aspects of Aerial Construction
  • DOT Health Card required to operate and drive a bucket truck
  • Valid and unrestricted Driver’s License and acceptable driving record
  • Able to read/write and understand aerial drawings
  • Able to lift an excess of 75-80 lbs.
  • Ability to work at heights of 20+ feet
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Able to travel long distances at short notice, when required
  • Able to work for extended periods in various locations, when required
  • Willing to work overtime when requested
  • Willing to Travel
  • Willing to work nights and weekends

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CDL License is preferred and ability to obtain within 90 days of hire
