The Green River Area Development District (GRADD) is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented, and
community-minded Community Projects Coordinator to join our Community & Economic Development team. This position offers a unique opportunity to work at the regional level supporting local governments, shaping housing strategies, and advancing projects that strengthen communities across seven counties in western Kentucky. About the Community & Economic Development Department
GRADDs Community & Economic Development Department responds to the evolving needs of our
region while planning strategically for the future. Our work spans community development, economic development, rural development, environmental protection, hazard mitigation, infrastructure resiliency, housing, planning and zoning. We collaborate closely with local, state, and federal partners to turn ideas into funded, compliant, and successful projects.


Key Responsibilities
The Community Projects Coordinator plays a vital role in advancing housing initiatives throughout the GRADD region. Core responsibilities include:


  • Coordinating housing development projects and initiatives from early planning through
    implementation.
  • Developing and administering projects funded through Community Development Block Grants
    (CDBG), US Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the Kentucky Housing Corporation (KHC).
  • Assisting local governments and partners with housing needs assessments, feasibility studies,
    and project planning, including work toward a Regional Housing Development Plan.
  • Supporting the preparation and submission of community development and housing-related
    funding applications at the state and federal levels.
  • Assisting with project coordination activities, including schedules, budgets, compliance tracking,
    and reporting requirements.
  • Monitoring housing market trends, demographic data, and regional housing needs to inform
    development strategies.
  • Maintaining accurate project files, databases, and documentation related to housing development
    and community project activities.
  • Participating in regional planning efforts related to housing, economic development, and
    community development.
  • Supporting public engagement efforts, meetings, and presentations related to housing initiatives.
  • Supporting the restoration and ongoing operation of the Green River Housing Corporation,
    including providing technical assistance, meeting support, and training.
  • Researching and responding to funding opportunities to serve GRADDs cities and counties.
  • Performing other duties as assigned in support of GRADDs housing and community

development goals.


This position works closely with the Kentucky Department for Local Government (DLG), Kentucky Housing Corporation (KHC), US Department of Agriculture (USDA), local elected officials, and various state and federal agencies.


Education & Qualifications


  • Bachelors degree in planning, public administration, political science, regional and urban
    planning, English, critical writing or related fields.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
    Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Collaborative, team-oriented approach to problem solving.
  • Comfort working with local officials, partner agencies, and the general public.
  • Experience with grants, housing programs, or community development is preferred but not
    required.
