SUMMARY: Our client is seeking an experienced Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) Estimator to join its growing team supporting industrial construction and maintenance projects throughout the Gulf Coast. This position plays a key role in preparing accurate and competitive estimates for capital projects, turnarounds, maintenance, and EPC work within the refining, petrochemical, chemical, power, and industrial manufacturing industries.
DUTIES OR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for instrumentation and electrical construction projects ranging from maintenance work to large capital projects.
- Review drawings, specifications, bid packages, and customer requirements to develop complete and accurate proposals.
- Perform quantity takeoffs for conduit, cable tray, cable, instrumentation, electrical equipment, terminations, grounding, lighting, and related systems.
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor quotations to ensure competitive pricing.
- Develop labor, equipment, material, and subcontract cost estimates.
- Identify project risks, assumptions, and value-engineering opportunities.
- Work closely with operations, project managers, and business development teams during the bid process.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and customer discussions as required.
- Maintain estimating databases, historical cost information, and current market pricing.
- Support project handoff meetings to ensure successful transition from estimating to execution.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5+ years of estimating experience in industrial electrical and instrumentation construction.
- Experience estimating projects within refineries, petrochemical plants, chemical facilities, power plants, or heavy industrial environments.
- Strong understanding of:
- Electrical distribution systems
- Instrumentation installation
- Cable tray and conduit systems
- Motor control centers (MCCs)
- DCS/PLC systems
- Fiber optics and communication systems
- Heat tracing and grounding systems
- Ability to read and interpret electrical one-line diagrams, P&IDs, loop drawings, wiring diagrams, and construction drawings.
- Experience preparing lump sum, unit rate, and T&M estimates.
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Excel and estimating software.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
