Summary
Hi-Way Paving is seeking a Class A or B CDL Driver with hazmat endorsement to operate our manual field equipment. The CDL Driver will operate commercial trucks, load/unload equipment and materials, and conduct daily maintenance and inspection of the equipment. Secondary responsibilities include general laboring and support of operation on the construction site. Depending on project requirements, this individual must be willing and able to work both day and night shifts. Must maintain a valid commercial driver's license.
This role will primarily be based in Nashville, TN but may require travel up to 100% to our projects in Charlotte, NC, Columbia, SC, and future site locations TBD to help execute our slip-form concrete paving operations.
Responsibilities
- Drive company vehicles including water truck, vac truck, dump truck, fuel truck, etc.
- Distribute materials to appropriate job site locations according to project plans or specifications.
- Work with mechanics on general maintenance of commercial vehicles.
- Shovel and rake dirt, gravel, and concrete.
- Operate small equipment such as dozer, backhoe,and rollers, as needed.
- Direct vehicle traffic and signal equipment operators, as needed.
- Communicate effectively with other laborers, machine operators, and site management.
- Observe safe work practices and all safety protocols and instructions.
Qualifications
- Commercial drivers license required.
- Class A, hazmat, and tanker endorsement, required.
- Ability to drive a manual transmission truck required.
- Heavy or highway construction experience, preferred.
- Physical capabilities required are climbing, lifting, carrying a minimum of 75 lbs., standing, sitting, walking, entering confined spaces, pushing, pulling, kneeling, squatting, and performing repetitive actions.
- Ability to gain clearance in restricted/high security zones. (Airport AOA, Military Bases, etc.)
