Job Description

Ohio Wesleyan University, a selective, private, undergraduate liberal arts, residential institution founded in 1842 and located just 20 miles north of Columbus.

The Dept. of World Languages and Cultures at Ohio Wesleyan University is looking for two part-time Spanish instructors to teach three introductory-level Spanish courses each this fall (2026). These courses meet on campus, three days per week (Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays). In addition, there may be an opportunity to teach between one and three courses in the spring of 2027 as well. The ideal candidate will have a Masters degree in Spanish or Foreign Language Education, native or near native fluency in the language, and some teaching experience at the college level.

At Ohio Wesleyan, a residential liberal arts institution, all classes are taught in an in-person, face-to-face setting. We do not offer online courses during spring and fall semesters.

Pay is $5,000 per course.

If you decide to join the Dept. of World Languages and Cultures you will

  • Become part of a dynamic, supportive, and collaborative team of instructors who are committed to their students and to excellence in language teaching.
  • Join a liberal arts college that is deeply committed to creating an environment that acknowledges, encourages and celebrates differences.
  • Teach small classes (up to 22 students per class).
  • Be mentored by and receive support from the Chair of the department as needed.
  • Have an office space for use while you’re on campus.
  • Receive a free parking pass that allows you to park anywhere on campus.

To apply, please send a Cover Letter indicating your interest in the position and a current C.V. (including names and contact information for three professional references) to Dr. Andrea Colvin (arcolvin@owu.edu), Chair of the Dept. of World Languages and Cultures. The fall semester begins on Wednesday, August 26th, 2026. We are hoping to fill the position by the end of the current semester (May 1, 2026).
