Arkansas Talent Group's Executive Search Division has been retained by a Community Bank in Northeast Arkansas to help them find a CFO for their organization. The position is becoming available due to an upcoming retirement and will be a key member of the executive management team. This is an extremely successful Community bank that has been around for over a century with a wonderful reputation in the market.

The Chief Financial Officer will be responsible for leading the banks financial strategy, integrity, and reporting. This is a hands-on leadership role appropriate for a well-rounded financial leader who thrives in a community-oriented environment. The CFO will be very hands-on in all accounting, compliance, and financial operations, and will supervise a small department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Management & Reporting
    • Direct all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and regulatory reporting
    • Prepare and oversee timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP and regulatory guidelines
    • Conduct financial and variance analysis, forecasting, budgeting, and long-term financial planning
    • Ensure all financial records are maintained in accordance with policies and meet audit and regulatory requirements
  • Regulatory Compliance
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all applicable banking, federal, and state regulations (FDIC, OCC, FFIEC, etc.)
    • Prepare and submit regulatory filings and reports, including Call Reports, FR2900, and various state/bank board requirements
    • Serve as primary liaison with internal and external auditors, regulatory agencies, and other relevant bodies
  • Asset and Liability Management
    • Oversee the management of the banks investment portfolio and coordinate with investment advisors as needed
    • Lead the Banks Asset-Liability Committee (ALCO), monitoring interest rate risk, liquidity, capital adequacy, and related policies
    • Manage daily cash flow, liquidity planning, and funds transfer activities
  • Strategic Leadership
    • Serve as a key advisor to the CEO and Board of Directors on financial matters, strategic decision-making, growth opportunities, and risk mitigation
    • Participate in executive-level planning and develop financial objectives consistent with the banks mission
    • Provide leadership and professional development to accounting staff; cross-train team to build resiliency
  • Operational Oversight
    • Oversee all general accounting, reconciliation, accounts payable/receivable, and payroll functions
    • Evaluate and implement improvements in accounting and financial procedures, controls, and systems
    • Supervise internal controls to prevent fraud and ensure operational efficiency
  • Other Duties as Assigned
    • Ensure the bank is fully prepared for audits and examinations
    • Review contracts and vendor agreements from a financial risk perspective
    • Keep current with emerging financial, regulatory, and industry developments affecting community banks

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred).
  • Minimum 7 years progressive financial management experience; previous bank or financial institution highly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of banking regulatory reporting, Call Reports, and federal/state compliance
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities in a small-team environment
  • Proficiency with bank core accounting systems, Excel, and financial reporting packages
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
