Nuclear Medicine Technologist / PET Technologist

We are seeking a highly skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist with strong PET experience to join a collaborative, patient-centered imaging team. This role plays a critical part in delivering high-quality clinical and research imaging services while supporting a culture of safety, precision, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, adaptable, and committed to excellence in patient care and technical performance.

This is an onsite position with a stable schedule, competitive hourly pay, and an environment that values learning, teamwork, and innovation. Located in Houston, TX


Schedule & Work Environment

  • Onsite role required

Schedule:

  • Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
  • Saturday: 6:00 AM – 3:00 PM
  • Each shift includes an 8-hour workday with a 1-hour lunch
  • Primary focus in PET imaging
  • Team environment undergoing positive workflow and efficiency improvements
  • Training provided; candidates should be eager to learn and adaptable to change


Compensation

  • $48.00 – $52.00 per hour, based on experience, licensure & certifications


Key Responsibilities


Patient Care & Safety

  • Perform nuclear medicine and PET procedures within professional scope of practice
  • Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals following established safety protocols
  • Conduct patient interviews, assessments, IV insertion, POCT, and discharge education
  • Ensure patient, staff, and visitor safety, including adherence to ALARA principles
  • Screen patients for implanted devices and imaging clearance requirements
  • Recognize patient distress and initiate appropriate emergency response procedures
  • Maintain strict infection control and sterile/aseptic techniques
  • Ensure accurate patient identification, documentation, and HIPAA compliance


Clinical Operations & Workflow

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient flow and on-time starts
  • Maintain clean, organized imaging and work areas
  • Monitor, decontaminate, and properly dispose of radioactive materials
  • Participate in rotational coverage, early/late shifts, and occasional off-site travel as needed
  • Complete downtime procedures and provide effective hand-offs using SBAR


Technical Expertise

  • Produce high-quality nuclear medicine and PET imaging across routine and advanced exams
  • Operate PET, nuclear medicine, CT (as assigned), and hot lab equipment independently
  • Perform quality assurance activities and troubleshoot image quality concerns
  • Ensure accurate image transfer to PACS and data entry into RIS and modality systems
  • Maintain equipment, safety, and compliance logs


Quality, Education & Continuous Improvement

  • Participate in quality and performance improvement initiatives
  • Support education and mentoring of students, technologists, and staff
  • Contribute to workflow efficiency and waste reduction initiatives
  • Maintain compliance with Joint Commission, ACR, and applicable state and federal regulations
  • Complete required continuing education, training, and departmental meetings


Qualifications Required

  • Associate’s degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology or related field
  • One year of experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist and/or PET Technologist
  • ARRT (N) or NMTCB certification
  • Texas Medical Board licensure (CMRT)
  • CPR certification


Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • PET certification
  • Additional certifications (ARRT, NMTCB, ACLS, PALS/PEARS)
  • Experience in high-volume or academic medical imaging environments
