Job Description

The Project Manager leads and coordinates all aspects of commercial construction projects and is accountable for overall project success. This role builds and maintains strong relationships with project stakeholders, ensures accurate financial and contractual control, and oversees thorough project documentation from preconstruction through closeout. The Project Manager provides clear direction and support to the entire project team while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, and compliance. This is a safety-sensitive position based on active job sites, supporting meaningful projects across healthcare, education, municipal, and commercial sectors within a collaborative, employee-focused culture.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage commercial construction projects from planning through closeout, ensuring scope, schedule, budget, and quality objectives are met.
  • Develop, maintain, and strengthen effective relationships with clients, design teams, subcontractors, and internal project teams to support successful project delivery and repeat business.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including contracts, construction documents, meeting minutes, change orders, RFIs, and closeout materials.
  • Oversee project financials by managing budgets, tracking costs, monitoring profitability, and preparing and reviewing financial reports for leadership.
  • Administer and manage change orders by evaluating impacts, pricing changes, obtaining approvals, and updating project budgets and schedules accordingly.
  • Coordinate and manage project schedules, including sequencing work, identifying critical path activities, and adjusting plans to address delays or changes.
  • Lead jobsite coordination efforts, including site logistics, phasing, and collaboration with field supervision to ensure safe and efficient execution.
  • Manage procurement of materials and equipment, ensuring timely delivery, cost effectiveness, and alignment with project specifications.
  • Oversee subcontractor selection, contracting, and performance, including reviewing scopes, negotiating terms, and approving invoices.
  • Communicate proactively with all stakeholders, providing clear updates on progress, risks, issues, and decisions while documenting key actions and agreements.
  • Identify, anticipate, and mitigate project risks by developing solutions in collaboration with project teams and leadership.
  • Ensure strict adherence to safety standards and regulatory requirements, including OSHA and EPA guidelines, and support a strong safety culture on all job sites.
  • Monitor and enforce quality control procedures to ensure work meets project specifications, codes, and client expectations.
  • Lead project closeout activities, including punch list management, final inspections, commissioning coordination, and delivery of final documentation.
  • Oversee project billing processes, including progress billings, change order billings, and final invoices.
  • Support and mentor team members, fostering a collaborative environment focused on continuous improvement, professional development, and a Culture of Care.
  • Promote transparency, accountability, and open communication within the project team and across the organization.
  • Utilize construction management technologies and tools, such as Procore, to manage documentation, workflows, and communication efficiently.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience in project management within commercial construction.
  • Strong background in construction management, including coordination of field and office activities.
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing construction documents and understanding plans, specifications, and related technical information.
  • Experience with change order management, including pricing, negotiation, and documentation.
  • Proficiency with construction project management software, including Procore or similar platforms.
  • Strong budget management skills, including cost tracking, profitability reporting, and financial oversight.
  • Ability to proactively manage projects by anticipating risks, developing mitigation plans, and implementing solutions.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to keep stakeholders informed and document decisions clearly.
  • Skilled in schedule development and management, including coordination of trades and critical path activities.
  • Experience with procurement processes, subcontract management, and invoice review and approval.
  • Organized and process-driven approach with strong time management and documentation skills.
  • Experience leading project closeout activities, including punch lists, billing, and final documentation.
  • Commitment to safety, quality control, and compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other applicable regulations.
  • Ability to traverse active construction sites, including uneven surfaces, stairs, and ladders, and to wear required personal protective equipment.

Work Environment

This role operates primarily on active construction job sites with regular interaction across field and office teams. The work involves frequent communication, both in person and through digital tools, to coordinate project activities and resolve issues. Physical activities include sitting, standing, walking, and climbing stairs, as well as occasionally lifting up to 25 pounds and pulling or pushing materials or equipment. The Project Manager must be able to traverse uneven walking and working surfaces, climb stairs and ladders up to 30 feet in height, and wear all required personal protective equipment as necessary. Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saint Louis, MO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $43.00/hr.
