Position Summary:

We are seeking a visionary and experienced Remote Director of Research to lead and expand our research endeavors. This pivotal role will be responsible for developing and executing the organization's research strategy, fostering a culture of inquiry, securing funding opportunities, overseeing research projects, and ensuring the ethical and rigorous conduct of all research activities. The Director of Research will collaborate closely with clinical leadership, data scientists, analysts, and external partners to identify research priorities, translate findings into actionable insights, and contribute to the advancement of medical knowledge within our specialized areas of practice. This is a fully remote position requiring a highly motivated, strategic, and communicative leader with a proven track record in healthcare research.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a comprehensive research strategy aligned with WeCare Medical Specialty Group's mission, values, and strategic priorities. Identify key research areas that will enhance patient care, optimize operational efficiency, and contribute to the broader medical community.

Research Program Development: Lead the identification, prioritization, and initiation of research projects, including clinical trials, observational studies, quality improvement initiatives, and translational research.

Funding Acquisition: Identify and pursue external funding opportunities through grants, contracts, and collaborations with pharmaceutical companies, medical device manufacturers, and other research organizations. Oversee the preparation and submission of high-quality grant proposals.

Research Infrastructure Development: Build and maintain a robust research infrastructure, including the development of standard operating procedures (SOPs), data management protocols, and regulatory compliance frameworks.

Team Leadership and Mentorship: Recruit, mentor, and manage a high-performing team of research professionals, including research coordinators, research assistants, and potentially post-doctoral fellows or junior investigators. Foster a collaborative and supportive research environment.

Collaboration and Partnerships: Establish and maintain strong collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders (clinicians, administrators, data science teams) and external partners (academic institutions, research networks, industry partners).

Oversight of Research Activities: Ensure the ethical and scientific integrity of all research projects, overseeing study design, data collection, data analysis, and interpretation of results. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including IRB requirements and data privacy laws (e.g., HIPAA).

Dissemination of Research Findings: Lead the dissemination of research findings through publications in peer-reviewed journals, presentations at scientific conferences, and internal reports to inform clinical practice and organizational decision-making.

Budget Management: Develop and manage the research department's budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and maximizing the return on investment in research activities.

Performance Monitoring and Evaluation: Establish metrics to track the progress and impact of research initiatives. Regularly evaluate the effectiveness of research programs and make recommendations for improvement.

Promoting a Culture of Research: Champion a culture of inquiry and evidence-based practice throughout WeCare Medical Specialty Group, encouraging participation in research activities at all levels.

Staying Current: Remain current on the latest advancements in medical research, funding opportunities, and regulatory requirements relevant to the organization's research focus.

Qualifications:

Work Permit/Citizenship: Must be a United States citizen or possess a valid work permit allowing employment in the United States.

Education: Doctoral degree (MD, PhD, PharmD, or equivalent) in a relevant biomedical or healthcare-related field.

Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in leading and managing healthcare research programs, including a demonstrated track record of securing external funding (grants, contracts).

Research Expertise: Deep understanding of research methodologies, statistical analysis, clinical trial design, and regulatory requirements for healthcare research (e.g., FDA, IRB).

Leadership and Management Skills: Proven ability to lead, mentor, and build high-performing research teams in a remote environment. Excellent strategic thinking, organizational, and project management skills.

Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex research concepts to diverse audiences, including clinicians, administrators, and the scientific community. Strong negotiation and collaboration skills.

Grant Writing Expertise: Demonstrated success in developing and securing significant research grants from national and international funding agencies.

Publication Record: A strong record of peer-reviewed publications in reputable scientific journals.

Ethical Conduct: Unwavering commitment to the ethical conduct of research and adherence to all relevant regulations and guidelines.

Remote Work Capabilities: Must have a reliable high-speed internet connection and a dedicated, professional home office setup suitable for remote leadership and collaboration.

Familiarity with Healthcare Systems: Understanding of the US healthcare system, clinical workflows, and the challenges and opportunities in conducting research within a healthcare organization.
