Senior level Electrical Assembly Technician that performs complex wiring, assembly, and testing of components and assemblies to be installed and upfit into customer vehicles. This person is a technical expert in all duties and responsibilities related to electrical portion of vehicle upfit activities This individual is responsible for defining daily/weekly/monthly expectations to the team to meet the customer and engineering specifications to the company’s high standards of quality.
- Ability to collaborate with team members to organize and plan the sequence of build activities.
- Ability to communicate effectively with support teams to drive continuous improvement efforts.
- Must direct and support junior team members to complete build activities to quality, engineering, and customer expectations.
- Hold the team accountable to the quality parameters, build schedule, and training requirements to meet the company goals.
- Support junior team members with problem solving and difficult or undocumented processes and procedures.
- Mentor and train junior electricians on techniques and best practices on electrical activities required to upfit vehicles to engineering specifications.
- Ability to critically think and problem solve to determine proper wiring, installation, and connection methods and techniques for various electrical assemblies.
- Perform the necessary tasks, wiring components and assemblies for installation on vehicles, ensuring quality and delivery expectations are adhered to.
- Must be able to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and assembly instructions for complex assemblies.
- Perform in process tests and quality checks upon completion of the work center activities.
- Review and audit engineering drawings and documentation for submittal for customer approval.
- Must be proficient in the use of various hand tools for assembly and installation of equipment into vehicles.
- Accurately account for materials per processes and procedures.
- Accurately log time into the computer.
- Ensure paperwork and documentation is effectively completed and submitted for each job.
Required Skills:
- Must have good manual dexterity.
- Be able to read and interpret blueprints, assembly instructions, and technical documentation.
- Knowledge of mechanical assembly techniques.
- Proficient in the use of a variety of hand tools, power tools, and electrical test equipment.
- Be able to read, understand, and communicate the English language, both verbally and in writing.
- Must be able to measure using a tape measure.
- Basic mathematical skills.
Required Experience and Education:
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Minimum 3-5 years of electrical wiring experience.
- Minimum 1-3 years of experience leading teams/supervising.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in electrical assembly and wiring AC and DC circuits.
- Experience in a job shop environment.
- Experience with training and mentoring team members on industry best practices.
- Some experience with continuous improvement/LEAN
Physical Requirements:
- Regularly required to stand and use hands to handle or touch objects, tools or controls.
- Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Occasionally required to walk, sit, stand, reach above shoulders, climb or balance, talk or hear, and use foot/feet to operate machinery.
- Must regularly lift and or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally move up to 100 pounds.
- Specific vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception.
