MaxCare Health & Residential Services is a residential group home and day support providing care to individuals with developmental disabilities who have complex medical needs. We are seeking a Health Services Manager to support our Program Manager.
POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for supervisory duties for the home, overseeing licensed practical nurses and direct support professionals. Work in conjunction with the Program Manager to set work schedules, delegate assignments, assign tasks and evaluate employee job performance, as well as disciplining employees who don't fulfill their job requirements or provide inadequate care to individuals receiving services. Responsible for mentoring less experienced nurses, offering clinical advice, set goals and standards for the home, and may hold regular staff meetings in which they give directions or discuss areas for improvement. Under the direction of the Health Services Director establish standards of nursing care for the home, applying evidence-based standards and health care research. Responsible for monitoring care to ensure it meets the organization’s standards, and review patient records to analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of the care provided within the home. Responsible for consulting with the individual’s physician for recommend treatment options. Responsible for the individualized review of an individual’s case, especially if it's complicated or if the individual is not responding to treatment. Ensure the department is well-stocked with medical supplies, including medications and equipment. In conjunction with the Program Manager responsible for interviewing and hiring licensed practical nurses and coordinating with the RN Nurse Educator for training and staff development needs. Responsible for communicating the interests and consulting with senior management if the staff has questions or concerns, recommending changes and improvements, and offering the home’s opinion regarding proposed changes or decisions under consideration by the organization. Comply with all rules, regulations, and policies that apply to the organization.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Licensed Practical Nurse and two years of experience in healthcare management is preferred.
- Upon hire he/she must satisfactorily complete all training required by the County Chesterfield and the State of Virginia.
- Must be at least 21 years of age and have a valid, unrestricted driver’s license.
- Must be willing to operate handicap accessible van with applicable training.
- Must be able to be on-call and available to staff in case of questions and emergencies.
- Results of a physical exam must indicate individual is cleared for unrestricted work duties.
- Must also test negative for tuberculosis (TB)
- Complete and pass a background check.
