Pay Rate: $21.00 - $24.00/hr. (Depends on Experience & Qualifications)

Skills Required:

Primary (Must-Have):

  • Associate Degree or equivalent laboratory, pilot plant, or manufacturing experience in the adhesive/sealant industry
  • Experience performing laboratory testing and experimentation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills
  • Experience maintaining laboratory equipment and work areas
  • Ability to analyze and communicate technical findings effectively
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety practices and procedures


Secondary (Good to Have):

  • Experience working with water-based acrylic or moisture-curable adhesives and sealants
  • Experience with viscosity, tensile, peel strength, extrusion, and stability testing
  • Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) standards
  • Experience using electronic laboratory notebooks (Patent Safe or similar)
  • Inventory management experience within a laboratory environment
  • Experience supporting product development and research projects
  • Mechanical aptitude for maintaining laboratory and mixing equipment



Position Overview

The Lab Technician will support the Research & Development team in the development of innovative sealants and adhesives used in the construction industry. This role involves preparing laboratory-scale batches, conducting product testing, documenting results, maintaining equipment, managing inventory, and supporting regulatory documentation while ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards.



Roles & Responsibilities

  • Support the Sealing & Bonding team in research and development of water-based and moisture-curable sealants and adhesives
  • Perform laboratory-scale experiments designed by the research team and document detailed observations and findings
  • Characterize physical and mechanical properties of adhesives using analytical techniques including viscosity, tensile testing, extrusion testing, peel strength testing, stability testing, and color matching
  • Maintain accurate records using electronic laboratory notebooks and prepare written technical reports
  • Conduct job hazard assessments and assist in developing laboratory best practices
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and mixing equipment to ensure proper functionality
  • Ensure laboratory work areas remain clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards
  • Manage laboratory inventory, including raw materials and testing substrates
  • Prepare and submit documentation required for regulatory review of raw materials and products
  • Coordinate shipping and handling of experimental samples
  • Practice safe work habits in accordance with OSHA, EPA, and company EHS guidelines
  • Support project execution activities as prioritized within the R&D project portfolio
  • Collaborate with research scientists and cross-functional teams to communicate project results and findings
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management



Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Engineering Technology, or a related scientific discipline preferred
  • Equivalent laboratory, pilot plant, or manufacturing experience in the adhesive/sealant industry will be considered
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to maintain laboratory equipment and perform routine troubleshooting


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with adhesives, sealants, coatings, or polymer-based products
  • Experience performing laboratory analytical and mechanical testing
  • Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and laboratory safety requirements
  • Experience using electronic laboratory notebook systems
  • Experience supporting product development or research projects
  • Mechanical aptitude and experience maintaining laboratory equipment
