Job Description

Psychiatrist (contractor)


SUMMARY

Uses independent judgement and discretion to provide psychiatric services to children and families.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Employees must spend over 50% of their time on these duties.

  1. Provide psychiatric services within clinical scope of practice to children and families.
  2. Provide psychiatric evaluations and treatment for Medi-Cal clients.
  3. Available for crisis calls (reimbursed time).
  4. Adhere to all agency and Department of Mental Health (DMH) documentation requirements.
  5. Document all patient encounters and maintain accurate medical records in compliance with DMH and HIPAA standards.
  6. Collaborate with other clinical treatment team members, medical professionals, and support staff as needed around diagnosis, treatment, and client disposition.
  7. All clinical progress notes must be completed in CA state required time frame of same day/next day, within 24 hours of service delivery.
  8. Any requested corrections to progress notes and other documentation must be made within 48 hours of the request.
  9. Ensure coverage during periods of absence.
  10. Submit sub-contractor invoice no later than Tuesday of the following week.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This job has no supervisory responsibilities.


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • M.D. or D.O. from an accredited school of medicine is required.


OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

  • Spanish/ English bilingual required.
  • Ability to handle confidential information.
  • Maintains patient privacy, including protecting the confidentiality, safeguarding the integrity and availability, and limiting the use and disclosure of patient Protected Health Information (PHI) to authorized individuals and entities.
  • Participates in, conducts, and sustains performance quality improvement activities according to designated role and responsibilities.
  • Sensitivity to service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Punctual and dependable attendance.
  • Free from alcohol and drug abuse.
  • Understands CII’s basic philosophy and participates fully in carrying out its mission.


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Board Certified in Child Psychiatry
  • Clearance from SAM.gov
  • Clearance from background investigation through CA Department of Justice including state, local, and federal-level review which may include, but shall not be limited to, criminal conviction information. Safely Surrendered Baby Law information provided to its employees (Fingerprinting)
  • Professional Liability Insurance or Malpractice coverage (Insurance Coverage Requirements: Professional Liability - $1M per occurrence/$3M aggregate.
  • DEA license in the United States.


CONTINGENCIES:

  • Covid-19 Vaccine and booster - Due to the recent mandate issued by The Governor’s Office and the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), all CII staff must be vaccinated against Covid-19 by date of hire.
  • Compliance with the organization’s requirements surrounding influenza, MMR, and TDAP immunizations.
  • Background fingerprint clearance from the California Department of Social Services.

COMPENSATION:

  • Hourly hire rate: $350.00 per billable hour of service. Up to $110,000.00 per year and increased upon discussion.
  • In accordance with CA law, the expected pay range for this CA position is posted with this position. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
