Purpose/Job Function:

The Parcel Pricing Manager serves as a primary strategic advisor to AFS Small Parcel clients, leading parcel carrier negotiations and broader parcel optimization initiatives. This role extends beyond traditional contract negotiation to include regional carrier strategy, operational impact analysis, network optimization, and total parcel cost management. The position requires deep expertise in small parcel transportation, carrier pricing structures, accessorial strategy, regional carrier alternatives, and the operational implications of carrier selection and service design.


Essential Functions: ______________________________

Client Strategy & Negotiation

  • Lead parcel carrier contract negotiations (UPS, FedEx, USPS, and regional carriers) to deliver best-in-class pricing and service terms
  • Develop multi-carrier strategies incorporating national and regional carriers to optimize cost, service, and network performance
  • Evaluate contract structures including base discounts, accessorials, fuel programs, earned incentives, and minimum charges
  • Develop and manage parcel RFP processes across national and regional carriers
  • Prepare executive-level deliverables summarizing financial savings, operational changes, and implementation roadmaps
  • Continuously evaluate parcel industry developments, determine their impact on clients, and proactively refine negotiation strategies.


Regional Carrier & Network Optimization

  • Assess opportunities for regional carrier implementation and diversification strategies
  • Analyze operational impact of carrier mix decisions, including transit times, service reliability, zone distribution, and fulfillment alignment
  • Support carrier diversification initiatives to mitigate risk and improve leverage in negotiations


Operational & Financial Analysis

  • Conduct in-depth parcel data analysis to identify cost drivers, service inefficiencies, and optimization opportunities
  • Evaluate operational processes including packaging, labeling, distribution center alignment, and shipping patterns
  • Provide recommendations that balance pricing, service performance, and operational feasibility


Internal & External Collaboration

  • Provide subject matter expertise on small parcel strategy to sales and internal support teams
  • Establish and maintain strong client relationships across operational and executive levels

Qualification/Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of national and regional parcel carriers, pricing structures, and contract components, including parcel accessorials, fuel surcharge, and dimensional weight impacts; strong ability to analyze operational workflows and assess service-level implications of carrier changes
  • MS Office proficiency including advanced Excel skills (data modeling, financial analysis)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including executive-level presentation capability
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong process orientation with the ability to develop, document, and execute standardized methodologies
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple client engagements simultaneously and work independently

Education/Experience: ____

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, or other quantitative fields
  • MBA or advanced degree preferred
  • Minimum five years of experience in Parcel industry
  • Minimum five years of pricing experience

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

The Parcel Pricing Manager will sit in front of a computer for long hours at a time responding to emails and communicating with clients and subordinates. Staring at the computer may cause eye irritation or even muscle strain.

The increased repetitive motions and awkward postures attributed to the use of computer keyboards may also result in a cumulative trauma disorders (CTDs).

The job as Parcel Pricing Manager does not require any strenuous or physical activity.

Customary Work Hours: 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M., Monday through Friday
