Civil Engineer II

Location: San Diego, CA
Salary Range: $90,000 – $110,000

Overview

Our client is seeking a skilled Civil Engineer II to join their growing team in San Diego. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with a strong background in land development and site design who thrives on solving complex technical challenges. The ideal candidate will bring both design expertise and the ability to manage multiple projects while working closely with clients, consultants, and regulatory agencies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and contribute to the design of land development projects, including grading, drainage, stormwater management, and erosion control.

  • Develop civil engineering plans, models, and calculations using Civil3D and related software.

  • Perform storm drain, open channel, detention basin, and hydrologic/hydraulic modeling, including HEC-RAS and Rational Method calculations.

  • Prepare technical reports, project narratives, applications, and supporting documentation for submittals and permitting.

  • Conduct research into zoning requirements, compliance regulations, and development review processes.

  • Review and interpret construction plans to ensure quality, accuracy, and adherence to project specifications.

  • Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams, clients, and sub-consultants to deliver projects on schedule.

  • Support CLOMR/LOMR applications and processing.

Desired Background

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification, with progress toward a PE license highly valued.

  • At least three years of civil engineering experience, preferably in land and site development.

  • Strong proficiency in Civil3D, AutoCAD, and stormwater modeling tools such as AES, CIVILD, WSPGW, PCSWMM, StormCAD, HEC-HMS, and HEC-RAS.

  • Skilled in storm drain modeling, open channel design, detention basin design, and related hydrologic/hydraulic analyses.

  • Experience preparing and reviewing development documentation, applications, and reports.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project).

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
