The Tandem Dump and Side Dump Truck Driver is responsible for safely operating dump trucks to transport materials such as dirt, gravel, asphalt, and debris to and from construction sites. The driver must follow all safety regulations, maintain equipment, and work closely with supervisors and crew members to support project timelines.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Safely operate tandem dump trucks and side dump trucks on construction sites and public roadways
- Transport materials to designated locations in a timely and efficient manner
- Load and unload materials, ensuring proper weight distribution and secure loads
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
- Report mechanical issues, safety concerns, or needed repairs promptly
- Maintain accurate logs, tickets, and required documentation
- Follow DOT regulations, company policies, and safety procedures at all times
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, foremen, and job site personnel
- Assist with general labor duties when required
- Keep truck clean and in good working condition
Qualifications
- Valid CDL (Class A or B, depending on equipment)
- Clean driving record
- Previous experience operating tandem dump and/or side dump trucks preferred
- Knowledge of construction site safety practices
- Ability to operate equipment safely in varying weather and job site conditions
- Strong attention to detail and safety
